Do yourselves a favor! If you don't want to pay through the nose for a pizza and spaghetti dinner stay away from Sam's Italian. We ordered a large double ham pizza: new cost $21 and a ziti dinner with meat sauce (I know its an upcharge for the meat sauce but again, I've ordered it before) which is now costing $15. They are under new ownership, had no manager to speak to about it when I called back and was given MAJOR attitude about it. The shift leader, Kara, basically said we can take our business elsewhere, which we will!

I would not recommend sams I went there and I ordered the chicken wings and i got 4 popcorn chickens for 8.25 plus tax. The first ordered that came had hair in it and the lady at the register was like what do you want me to do make you another one. (No just pick the hair out seriously). I was like yes i would like a new one got it again with only 4 nuggets I asked if that was the serving size and they were like yes. I called another store and they said there was suppose to be 6. So i paid 2.00 per popcorn nugget. seriously. This was at the center st Auburn Me location

It's great, if you want to pay 7 dollars for an Italian with one slice of ham on it.

I was looking at L/A restaurants, as I am from Auburn and am lonesome for 'home' even after 35yrs. Grew up eating Sams italians, what I wouldnt give for one today. I doubt I will ever return to Maine, my parents an bro at vets cem in Augusta, and my other brother left way to soon, now in Buckfield. Sams italians bring us all around the table enjoying when dad brought home.

Freeport location ALWAYS has human hairs in the food. On several visits I’ve found the food to be subpar, the environment to be dirty and have had hairs in my food.

They still make great Italians but they changed the oil. Now its a blend of different oils. The original oil was only Virgin Olive oil and cotton seed oil. It's a 9 to 1 ratio. So 9 ounces of olive oil and 1 ounce of cotton seed oil. I have a unopened bottle of it from 2007 when I came home for a vacation. I went to the old shop on Main St and talked to the old timers in the back of the shop.

Cold pasta, stale fries. Chicken tasted like it came from a can.

I stopped in to grab some sandwiches for our beach picnic. I've always enjoyed Sam's Italians mostly due to the fresh bread and the pickles. I was impressed when I went into the restaurant to see folks wearing masks. I ordered four sandwiches and stepped back to allow them to be made. As one young lady left the sandwich area to take over the cash resister I saw the manager step into her place. The manager was an older woman perhaps in her 50s and she was wearing a hairnet and a mask down around her chin. I kept waiting for her to realize that her mask wasn't on but she kept on making sandwiches. All the while talking and singing over the food. Then in came another employee. She walked in and out and into the kitchen several times without wearing a mask. I highly considered saying something but I didn't want to come off as a "Karen." I observed all of the other guests wearing a mask while the manager kept on assembling sandwiches. At this point I was agitated and frankly disgusted that she may be preparing my food! I knew I could not leave without bringing attention to the issue. I thanked the two young ladies for wearing a mask and stated, "I'm not quite sure why your managers aren't wearing masks too." This is basic stuff here folks. You work with food during a worldwide pandemic=you wear a mask. Next time I won't be as polite. If Sam's expects their patrons to wear masks then they sure as heck better be sure their employees are wearing one too around the food. I will look elsewhere next time I'm in the mood for a sandwich. It's not worth the risk.

It used to be affordable and of good quality. Now rubber-stamped sandwiches at a high price, Not the quality of so many Italian Sandwich places in Lewiston-Auburn at much lower prices, Save money- save your appetite there are so many good places in Lewiston -Auburn that offers better food at less cost.

Whether this location or any other of the same name, I always have the same exact problem. No one ever gets the order right, and instead of getting my 6-inch LOAF, I get a tiny scrap of bread but pay 1 or 2 dollars, depending on location. And if I go back through the next day and explain what happened, employees arrogantly say that the policy is they can't replace the missing item. I'm ready to quit trying to go to Sam's altogether.

Sam's Italian sandwiches (known as sub's to most people) are the best anywhere. Their breads are singularly the key to why these sandwiches are so good. So many varieties and combination of fillings. You gotta try one to really understand why they are the best.

Food is good, always made consistently. Would like more choices that are not pre-prepped and seasoned for those of us on salt restricted diets.
