Maria’s has moved from their previous address on Cumberland Avenue in this space on Congress Street.

They no longer exist and they just up and disappeared on us.... They're not in fact on congress street anymore and when you try to call the number just doesn't exist either. It's really tragic that they didn't even let anyone know!

I don't understand how people are rating this restaurant in 2019 when it reportedly went out of business in 2018 and was replaced by Maria's restaurant.

It's not Espo's... it's now the new location for Maria's Restaurante. The food was good but we've had better elsewhere. This place is always busy so others must like there marina sauce without much seasoning...it taste like cooked unspiced tomatoes.

Overall, bad experience. We waited to be seated (a mix up and poor communications),water glasses and wine were never offered to be refilled, food was good but took much too long to arrive at our awkwardly placed table bar over looking the dining room. Also , room was extremely over heated . Sorry,we will try again because we hope that they succeed, but tonight it wasn't happening !

Delicious food, and yummy garlic bread. Marsala with chicken or shrimp or scallops, the best ever. Had a table of 10 people, handled it fine and with attentive service.

Had a really great meal here on a date with my wife. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Prices were very reasonable too!

Four of us we traveling together, could not have been more pleased with Espo's. Friendly, great food, interesting menu. The standouts were the baked haddock and shrimp scampi, and a delicious dessert of lemon creme cake.

Would've been a 4+ but the wait when we were seated for our drinks, bread, and ultimately our main dishes was the worse we can remember. Our waitress kept apologizing and promising bread, all to no avail; meanwhile other tables who came later and had different wait staff got bread right next to us. The people sitting nearby who arrived before us didn't get their meal until way after us. And it was wrong. Mine was also incorrect but caught before the staff brought it out to me. However that meant I had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes while my party ate their meals. It was pretty chaotic. That said my meal -- made especially for me the way I ordered it -- wasn't in the menu -- did taste very good. They needed more wait staff last night and more kitchen help. And bread. Helluva lot more bread. ;)

Outstanding Food, Great Prices, and Large Portions. They are locally owned & operated for about 50 years! Simply the Best!

Best Marsala sauce I have ever had..my family and I went in last night and we were blown away with how clean and cozy it was. The waitstaff was also very pleasant. The bread that we received while waiting for food was to die for.

I was stuck in horrific Portland traffic and I found this place. This is the one time I am grateful for traffic. Aweome bread, awesome house dressing, fresh salads, great service, low prices and to die for dinner and dessert. If this place expanded, everyone around them would go under, they are that good.
