I was in the area on other business and this old warehouse building looking like it’s built with parts of wrecked ships that washed on at waterfront. I’m like what kind of cool building is this?? It turned out to be restaurant that I cant wait to try! I don’t know if they’ll let an old pirate like me in but I’m gonna give it try! Full review coming soon!

This wonderful restaurant the atmosphere and the service make me eat foods, normally, I would never even try, Parsnips, squid, cabbage are among my least favorite foods...but at Fore street...just delicious. Call a month a head to get your table...it's worth the wait.

We dined at Fore Street last night to celebrate my birthday. I was really excited to have a great meal. The host and server were very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, my hangar steak was just not very good. And the garlic mashed potatoes were just okay. My husband’s chicken was good as was the corn bread. I would have expected everything that we ordered to have been top quality. This was a very disappointing way to celebrate my birthday. I wish we had gone somewhere else. We will not be returning to Fore Street for a meal based on this experience.

A fine dining destination with a focus on food quality and the evening experience. On the advice of a coworker, I stopped at Fore Street for my last meal of my vacation. The open kitchen is a treat - watching someone diligently working is always fascinating. The daily menu gives me confidence that nature's bounty helps to decide what's most worth consuming. I was seated 15 minutes before my reservation, and before long, Megan showed up to talk me through the menu. You'll see from my pictures that I ate very well. I nearly passed up dessert, but I just had to go for it to help prolong the experience. It wasn't perfect. None of the available seafood entrees really lit my fire. The squid was great as an app, using a cherry tomato vinaigrette to help prime the palate. But I didn't really want plain old haddock to be my entree, and I wasn't adventurous enough to try the "poor man's lobster", monkfish - so I ended up going with an apple sausage, butternut squash, and scamorza pie. It was fancy and tasted good enough, but I wanted a fish entree like a salmon or a halibut. Megan, my attendant, noticed that I wasn't really into the Cabernet I'd ordered without really thinking. She generously switched it to the Sangiovese after talking with me about what I wanted from my wine. It was way more to my liking. If I were in the area again I'd at least consider the menu as part of making dinner plans.

We arrived 15 minutes early for our rez; joined the queue in the airlock. (We were the 9th & 10th folks) Hostess unlocks the door but orders us to stay there until she's ready. You open @ 5, you should be ready to roll at 5; one couple stepped in and we followed staying off to the side to allow the people before us to be taken care of; couple #1 is seated; next party is 4ppl and they're seated; next 2 folks get seated; (BYW these were all walk-ins); we step up and this oh-so-welcoming-NOT hostess reminds us that our Rez isn't until 5:15 and send us to the bar wait section which is furnished with ripped, cracked, leather chairs. Do I want a drink? No! It's my husband's birthday and I am beyond angry. Why did I make a Rez while 20 more people who arrived after we did & had no reservations did? And, why on earth wouldn't you want to seat 2 ppl who arrive early??? We get seated in the side room where a table for 12 was set up. The waiter was condescending and certainly did nothing to make me feel welcomed either. We asked to be reseated and quickly were. Our new server Alora was genuine & kind. She provided great input and service throughout the evening. The wines she recommended were delicious and the food was great. We live locally and eat out 3-4 times a week. Wherever you're from, you can always get good grilled meat. There are so many great restaurants in Portland. Go to one of them.

This place has it figured out. I am often hesitant to spend this much because a lot of the time the quality doesn't match up but this place was amazing. Best steak I have ever had and I have been to Delmonicos in NYC. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very courteous and knew the menu in and out. I live in Portsmouth, NH but will venture back up here to dine here again.Kid-friendliness: My 5 year old liked it a lot and they have a couple kid friendly options. My daughter got the fanciest penne pasta with a butter sauce I have ever seen.

Excellent all around! Great food - great service - great ambience/ this is my favorite restaurant in Portland maybe whole Northeast hands down. Oysters perfection. Salmon beautiful. Halibut buttery. Ginger sticky toffee pudding with pear ice cream- ? What??? Unbelievable. You just have the go here!!! Wine spectacular. Especially pairing with food.

My friend and I dined there on Sunday evening and enjoyed the delicious roast chicken with a side of the sweet potatoes and the cabbage. It was very delicious. I did send mine back to be warmed up as it was not hot enough for my liking. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. We finished off our meal with a dessert and some cappuccino. I was disappointed not to see the chocolate cake that was a staple years ago. I used to come there just for an after dinner drink and the cake. Nothing beat it. Very sad to see it gone. There was a family seat next to us with children. I don’t understand why people bring children to a restaurant like this when there is no children’s menu. The children were well behaved for the most part although there was some crying and tears, I wish restaurants of your caliber would just ban children under the age of 10 and the only other, I have is that we were seated with no lights above us. I had to use my phone flashlight to see the menu. And take a look at the food. There are tables with lights above them or on the wall next to them but our particular area Did not have any lights. We asked for extra candles. And my friend took a fall on the way out. I see the need not to have it lit up like a Christmas tree, but you’ve got to provide some light. You obviously do for some diners. I think about providing that for all the diners. Other than that it was a very good meal. Thank you.
