Solid Mexican food with great drinks. Owner went out of her way for a great experience. You will enjoy it!
This was our family's first trip to Portland and we had the most delicious meal of our trip here? and the server was so friendly and helpful! We had tried to eat at a taco spot the night before and were treated so rudely by the snooty host, it seemed because we had 2 14-year -olds in our group, we weren't the "type" they wanted. At El Corazon you will get nothing but lovely service and GREAT food! If we ever visit Portland again we will eat here again for sure? thank you!
First time in and we'll definitely be back. Our server was fantastic explaing the menu offerings to us newbies. The hostess was also wonderful coming over to talk to us a couple times. I loved the atmosphere as it's in an old downtown Portland building with foot traffic everywhere outside the large front window. The outside eating area was inviting too but we chose an indoor high top table. The food was exceptional with generous portions. I typically take one bite of whatever bean side is offered and leave the rest. This time I actually ate them. All components of my dish were treated like a star not an after thought. I only wish I had had room for dessert. There's always next time. Bottom line: go here and eat their food!
Buy far the best, most authentic Mexican food in the portland area! Absolutely love the fried green tomato tacos, guacamole, bean & cheese burrito, and their margaritas!
Such a fantastic meal. We had the house margarita, the camaron seafood cocktail (simply incredible), jalapeno poppers, bad hombre burrito, and shrimp tacos. Clearly, we ordered enough for an army. However, I have no regrets. Everything was so good. I didn't have high expectations going into the meal, but the food and the service was wonderful. Honestly, the best bang for our buck in Portland so far. There are a lot of options in this portion of town. You won't go wrong with El Corazon.
Though the food was delicious, it was cold because all the take- out orders received priority. I was really upset. We waited probably about an hour for our food as we watched order after order go out the door. We went through 4 baskets of chips and finally said no more. I tried to call and email the owner to give polite but helpful feedback but Didn't get through on phone (too busy and was hung up on rather than taking a message) and never heard back via email. Too bad because we had raved about it to the friends we brought but service was so slow, they'll probably never go back. They need a better management system so that in -person customers don't get the shaft.
Hands down the best authentic Mexican food in town. Hard working owners were very welcoming on our first visit. The mexican grilled corn was spectacular along with the burritos. The salsa was freshly made same day. We will be back for more!!
Very friendly staff, fast service, great location. The portions are really large and are priced at a very good value. We will definitely be visiting again!!
Great tamales. Fantastic hot salsa.Specials and a la carte... so you can get whatever you want. The owner is so friendly and clearly puts his heart into the place (no pun intended.)The manager is also a very wonderful person.I'll be back.
Tasty drinks, delicious tacos, great service and the freshest jalapeno poppers you'll find on the east coast.
Food was good and reasonably priced. Enjoyed the house margarita as well. Service was very slow though. I'm not sure if this is normal or due to covid so I won't hold that against them for now but it took over 20 minutes for our party of 6 to get our meals. Will definitely give another try as things get back to normal.
The tortilla soup is stomach and soul nourishing. I had it two weeks ago and think about it nearly every day.
Great food and environment. Staff is so friendly and attentive. Look forward to trying the soy chorizo papusa.
Went to my favorite sushi place, King of the Roll, but it was closed. Went to my favorite noodle place, Pie Man Miyake, but was takeout only. Decided to check out El Corazon next door. Serendipity. Every single bite was delicious. Cheese tamale with green sauce, amazing. Chillie Rellenos, delicious. Churros with carmal sause, the perfect ending. Plus Dos Equis Amber, $7, FOR TWO! Amazing meal, amazing deal. I'll be back soon with friends.
Grabbed a carnitas burrito bowl for lunch. Ordered online and it was ready exactly when it said it said it would be and was nice and hot. Flavor was very good. These folks are authentic with their bean and rice and the meat was super flavorful. Definitely will be back.
