I highly enjoyed the lobster roll and clam chowder (I like my clam chowder a little thicker, this one is watery) I left wanting more the lobster was not chewy and the aioli that they put on it really makes it. I had them put the aioli on the side and the butter and they where both good but man that aioli takes it some place else. Excellent!!! It wasn’t really busy when I went so the atmosphere was kind of blah! It took a while for anyone to say hi, tons of employees walked right by, even stub there talking to each other and even the manager and not even a hi. But when the bartender finally came it was good.

We where just passing through Portland found this place. Wonderful people. We tried the raw oysters.. ( when in Rome) . She told me the best way to eat them. And than said thank you for trying them. What a nice thing to say. I really liked this place.

The best breakfast we've ever had in the entire country - it's that good! Get the French toast. Or the crab and lobster omelette. Off the charts delicious! The service is exceptional and so is the dog friendly deck with beautiful views. We will be back!!

Friendly and attentive service overshadowed by bad food. Huevos Rancheros were nearly inedible, the black beans had clearly gone bad and the steak was tough and chewy, the whole plate was cold. Other people in my party had great food, and the drinks were excellent.

I'm never going back. The wait was incredibly long, and the food mediocre at best and horribly overpriced.

We stopped in for lunch and drinks. The lobster rolls were great, 5 of us ordered them. Service was great and we were.lucky enough to be able to sit out side on March 16th.

Fun atmosphere full of locals. Lobster Roll was kind of pricey in my opinion 35 and that is with chips. It was good though. Bartender spilled the beer of the person next to me soaking her and getting it on my coat at leg. Comped her her drink rightly so and her husband and didn't even bother to apologize to me kind of sad considering I helped clean it all up. Oh well.

We stopped into The Porthole Restaurant & Pub on a rainy Tuesday evening in March. This restaurant is located directly off the waterfront in the wharf. There were only a few others in the restaurant when we arrived. We were greeted and taken to our seats immediately. The restaurant gives off a friendly diner vibe with many booth and table seating options. There is a bar at the front of the restaurant with additional seating. We ordered the whole lobster and a lazy lobster. The difference between the whole lobster and the lazy lobster is that all of the lobster meat is picked out with the lazy lobster. It's only $5 more for the lazy lobster, so if you don't like picking, it may be worth it for you to go with the lazy lobster.Overall, we had a good dining experience and our server was very nice. The lobster was fresh and very good. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in Portland, Maine looking for a classic lobster meal at the wharf.
