Service was terrible. We were here for over two hours and saw the waitress once (not her fault). I do NOT recommend. I've stayed here once before about a year ago and the same thing happened the last time. Go elsewhere.

Service was fantastic. Cocktails were pretty solid. But $14 draft beer is insane considering cocktails were only a buck or two more. The only explanation I could think of is they don’t want people to order beer here? Very

Great rooftop view! Very nice place to just lounge. Loved that it was within the hotel we stayed at. Service is 3 stars because we were told to seat ourselves, then after 15minutes of no service and seeing the server at the many tables around us, we had to order at the bar to bring the drinks back to the table. Otherwise- cool spot.

I will start by admitting that they do have a great view, especially when sitting close to a huge window. That’s about the only good part of top of the East we found (although we did not try the food.)Service is slow but they are understaffed so I understand. The staff is trying their best and were very pleasant. The price of beer is a complete joke. $14 for an Allagash White? Are you kidding me? Allagash is a 15 min ride! It’s local! I have never seen a single restaurant or bar in Portland (even the more expensive/luxury ones charge more than $10 for an Allagash, and it’s usually $8.) Same thing for Bunker Brewing and the other local breweries onthe menu… $14 (+tax + tip so almost $18 for a beer).Their cocktails were the worst in Portland I’ve ever had and I’m not exagerating. 2 people in the group took one sip of their drinks and never picked it back up. All the drinks were completely flavorless and tasted so watered down…. We tried 3 different ones and they were all terrible. In a city filled with amazing cocktail bars, bars and where even restaurants serve incredible drinks, it’s a pretty sad performance. We didn’t try the food so I can’t say anything about it.

Three months ago, this review would have been entirely different, five stars for sure, which is why our visit to the Top of the East last night was so disappointing. The cool, upscale vibe with great food, service and ambience on our December visit, last night felt more like a frat party, with a live music duo not only impossible to talk over, but their "stage" blocked some of the best city views and consumed a good portion of what normally would have been premier seating. Service was slow and haphazard, the bar overall seemed understaffed. Unfortunate that such an amazing space would be so misused.

Not a single non-alcoholic beverage on the menu - major disappointment, especially considering even the hotel restaurant has a couple! I ordered a cocktail virgin and was charged full price. Then I ordered a ginger beer - $10 for a small glass. My partner enjoyed his first well-balanced Old Fashioned, and his second was overly spiced. The Amish Butter Board was super tasty but needs more bread! The Roasted Garlic Hummus was delicious and the vegetables served with it were hardly prepared - halved bell peppers loaded with seeds and halved radishes that were too thick for a naturally bitter food. The ambiance was lovely and a couple of talented musicians were playing. The music was extremely loud. We waited quite a while for service, once we were seated.

The reserved seating is extremely uncomfortable. The coffee table was so low it was hard to enjoy eating or drinking. The food was rather abysmal. If you're only offering a few items they should be phenomenal. The caramelized onion crab dip was horrible. We found 2 pieces of crab, no onions, sitting in a lot of liquid, and made of warm light tuna...it was awful. The hummus had no lemon or olive oil...the peppers had all stem and seeds and whole radishes, not sliced...the pork was thick, not shaved, and a pale, bland sausage. Honestly terrible. My drink was good and our waitress was sweet. Will not go back and most definitely will hot recommend to our family and friends from out of town.

A disappointing experience all around. They have a beautiful venue and our server was lovely, but they were significantly understaffed with wait times of 20 mins for a glass of wine. The food was particularly disappointing - including shrimp that had the consistency of cardboard and a charcuterie board that had an odd collection of greasy meats and heavy cheeses. Pretty pricey for what was delivered...

Great place for a cocktail with a killer view! 4 stars due to the nearly 100% markup on whiskey/scotch vs. a nearby premium lounge establishment. As a local, I am willing to pay to enjoy the view, but there is a limit to how long I'm going to stay....

We arrived after a wedding where most of the guests were staying in the Westin Harborview, it was around 11:20, and they would not serve us even one drink. It says they are open until 12. The bartender yelled at all guests telling them to go back to their rooms and called security, who was confused as to why they needed to call him. I’m not sure why this lounge didn’t want to make money as most people were very respectful and were willing to pay for drinks and tip.
