Called to place an order and Jake answered. I could tell he was very irritated when he took my order, and told the guy who cashed me out that he was very mean. Got home and realized it wasn’t right. Went back in and could tell I ruined his entire night. He was slamming things around, sighing very loudly, rolling his eyes. It was incredibly aggressive and everyone in the lobby was uncomfortable and whispering about it. One woman told me that she went to dinner with friends and every one of her friends were talking about how mean Jake is at this location (hence how I found out his name) I felt truly sad for the employees you could tell everyone was uncomfortable, including them. I get being busy, I get being stressed, but there is 0 excuse for giving your customers anxiety and negativity due to your clear lack of ability to manage stressful situations. Food is great, however Jake is terrifying.

Prices go up and tomatoes are anemic; but sandwiches are still awesome and our 1st choice when we travel!

The wrap was delicious and the pazzo bread was amazing! No seating inside but that’s ok - we were taking our food to go. Great place for a quick bite.

No public restroom working on the road all day. Something should be mandatory if you're going to serve the general public in large

The food was excellent. The meat stuffers are my favorite, like cinnamon rolls, but Pizza! Staff behind the register didn't seem like she wanted to be there, but nothing that would turn me away from ordering here again.

I always liked the food, but their attitude is beyond mean--just pathetic and angry. The big guy especially makes you feel like you're not worth his time. And for such overpriced food, this Evans Street location isn't worth another visit ever.

I would choose an Amato's over all other sandwich shops hands down any day of the week. And be perfectly content. It's just SAD that the family chose to chain the original store out after their Grand Mother worked sooooooo many years of her life to pass this GIFT on to her family.

I was so excited to try Amatos!! And It did not let me down. I have a friend who recommended it to me, and so I knew I had to try it. I'm a serious sandwich conissuer. I love sandwiches, but I guess I'm picky about them too because they just have to check all my imaginary boxes in order for me to be impressed. And um, Wow.... this sandwich was mighty impressive and super amazingly delicious!! Seriously. I wanted to go there for lunch and dinner the next day! I ordered the Italian cold cut. It even had the burgundy Greek olives on it and amatos very own sour pickles. I had never heard of a sour pickle, only dill pickles or sweet pickles. The sour ones were so different and so good! It gave the sandwich a unique twist. (In the best way). I want to get some of these pickles and their pasta sauce, and whoppie pies shipped to me since I can't get the actual sandwich in my home state. (They can be ordered on their website if you're curious.) Oh, and the bread was soft, fresh, and yummy, too. The employees were nice, helpful, and not annoyed with us excited tourist types. The restaurant was huge as well. (No seating) but a one-stop shop for picking up food, desserts, chips, grab and go pre- made items, and a big variety of bottled drinks. Including MOXIE!! Get off the fence and try Amato's!! You will be happy you did.

We ordered 2 different Italian sandwiches with dressing on the side. We had to repeat the order twice ànd the dressing was not placed in the bag. When we got to our destination, no dressing. An Italian sandwich is just not an Italian sandwich without dressing.

Food is consistently ok. Not bad, not great. Edible. Not sure why people in maine love this place. Food is semi-bland. Sauce is basic. The sandwiches are messy to eat and are basically open-faced. Not my favorite spot to stop.

Manager got really angry about my order for some reason. I had ordered a sandwich but in a wrap, and I've done this before numerous times. Manager decided "No, we don't do that." They proceeded to throw a fit, threw my sandwich on the ground, left, came back a few minutes to make it again and decided to have the last word.Don't go here. Some of the employees are great, but the manager is really not nice. There's other better sandwich places than here.
