I had a $200 bottle of perfume stolen out of my room. Jason, the manager tells me that nothing was stolen because he spoke with his housekeeping staff. You tell me who is going to tell you that they stole something so that they can get fired, no one. I will never stay at this Hilton ever again. I will encourage everyone that I know that goes to Portland, which nobody goes to Portland to visit not to stay at this Doubletree by Hilton. The way that he handled my situation is unacceptable. He needs management training to learn how to escalate situations when customers tell him there is a problem. They claim they take pictures on long stays, but they only took Pictures on one day but they had been in my room four times before that where are those pictures at? He has no idea. He has no answer for that comment that I asked him. I have emailed corporate and I have not gotten back a response. I am highly disappointed in the corporate brand. I am a diamond member with Hilton and I expect to be treated as such. no one pays me to stay at the Hilton. I give Hilton my money. It's sad that I have to put in my profile now that I don't want any housekeeping in my room at all no matter how long my stay is. Please be advised do not stay at the Doubletree Portland Maine because they have thieves and they have management that have no management skills.

The bad: This is my first time staying at this hotel, and it was puzzling. When I first arrived, in the rain, I pulled my car up under the canopy and found the driveway was not wide enough for passing the hotel airport shuttle. I had to back up to find parking. The parking lot is shared, so it was completely full on my trip. Approaching the front desk, I did not see the customary coffee dispensers and things that I was used to at other Hilton hotels. It was plain, dull, drab and more like a cheesy motel than one would expect from the name of Hilton. To the left of the lobby was a bar in the center of a dimly lit room. Continuing onward, led to conference rooms, but just to the left of the bar was a set of double doors leading to the pool area. Folks had to come out of the pool and while dripping wet walk through the bar/food service area and tables to stand in the lobby to wait for an elevator. The building is uniquely round, so the rooms are wedged-shaped. If you are a large person, the bathroom would be too small for you. The toilet is the smallest toilet that can fit in the bathroom room with a tiny round toilet seat. The bathroom isn't big enough for two people. Don't expect a great refreshing shower as the water pressure and the showerhead were together to give you just enough to eventually rinse off. The bed was about the hardest bed. I've slept on in years. I am writing this review the day after, and my back still hurts. Much like most hotels, the heating is an old blower unit that was upgraded to be controlled by a digital remote on the wall. It was loud and did not keep temperature well. The good: There is no complimentary breakfast, but they do offer room-service until 10pm. The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. I was impressed at the cleanliness of the shower. The pillows were very comfortable and seemed new. Overall: You get what you pay for. The bed is the dealbreaker. This place is just plain painful.

This hotel has gone down the shitter since my last review, dirty rooms, hidden 75 dollar fee for a pet that they keep. Very poor breakfast , gov eggs low budget breakfast. Broken heater. Not worth the money to stay at this train wreck of a hotel.

Dated hotel. Staff is personable and friendly. Rooms are not updated and cleaning is needed. Convenient to mall and shopping area.

the room is still in 1970s: old rust curtains, dirty old sheers, little round old toilet, paint peeling off ceiling over tub, room service tray old and beat up, light out above sink, old blankets not even professionally folded.

The worst service and hotel ever. I travel a lot for work so I am used to mediocre service and hotel rooms but this hotel is something else. One of the bed wasn't made when I first checked to my room. There were male hair on the toilet seat (i am sure it wasn't cleaned after the last guest. Hallways very dirty with garbage on the floor. Also, I am so disappointed in the service and employees. Horrible! I stayed here for 6 days and requested room service three times. Nobody ever showed up. I didn't have fresh towels, disposable cups, toilet papers, coffee, my trash cans were full. and they did nothing about it when I complained. Never coming back here. The worst experience. Don't waste your money on this hotel

The restaurant in this hotel was my favorite stop for lobster on my trip to Maine. My breakfast of Lobster Eggs Benedict was delicious. I think it probably had the equivalent of a whole lobster on it!!The staff was nice, and the rooms were large with good blackout curtains and a comfortable bed. Getting extra towels was an easy process--not like at most hotels. We were in a road trip, so didn't need to make use of the shuttle. But the shuttle service seemed to be there constantly--which would be a perk for travelers. It was conveniently located off the highway and yet still near downtown Portland!

A very disappointing hotel. They gave us a room that was filthy (beer and cigarette smell, hair in the sink and the bathtub, bread crumbs in the bed, dirty toilet). We learned from other guests that they received the same room 20 minutes earlier and asked to be moved. Somehow they gave us the same room knowing that there were several issues with it. The staff member at the front desk tried to be helpful but it was her second shift. She gave us another room where the AC was broken. The maintenance arrived quickly and tried to fix it but it didn’t work well. Also, one elevator was out of service and the other one was making a scary noise. In the morning, the person at the front desk was not helpful at all telling that the manager would call us later (which he never did). Hopefully, we were staying only one night. We are used to travel in Hilton hotels as my husband is a Honors member. It’s the first time we experience this issues and unprofessional client service. Stay away from this hotel.

I was excited about my upcoming stay here, as I haven't stayed at a Doubletree before. I booked months in advance. A family situation necessitated a change in my travel plans and pushed my stay back one night. Hilton refused to change my reservation (despite acknowledging they had rooms available) for no good reason, just "it's policy". I have never had a hotel chain provide such terrible customer service and be so unreasonably rigid. Don't stay here. There are other nice hotels that'll actually take care of you if you need it.

Best part: If you squeeze in between the desk and chair, you can sit on the floor right next to the (floor to ceiling) window, and it's like sitting on the edge of a cliff looking out over the Turnpike. The noise level is well-controlled, and it's quite peaceful looking at cars and trucks roll by from six stories high. Needs to be high room on the back of the West tower for this effect. Quietest a/c / air system in any hotel I've stayed in, and the controls were pretty legible. Bed was comfy and slept well. Some mystery spots on the coverlet. If you're a DIY type, take along a scraper and some paint and you can fix the peeling paint in the bathroom. Stay away from the breakfast, if you're not used to a mass-market diet, either way you'll do just as well at McDonald's. 'Fridge is useful if you want to lightly freeze things. If you want the good ol' days of a freshly-made bed every day, get on it immediately. We waited til day 3, and despite obediently ordering 24 hrs in advance, chaos still ruled when we returned at 6 pm. The same fellow running check-in eventually arrived with a few towels; we decided he was probably running the whole place on his own that night.

I am writing this review with an overwhelming sense of disbelief and frustration after my recent interaction with the staff at the Doubletree Portland hotel, a Hilton-affiliated establishment. My experience has been nothing short of a colossal disappointment, characterized by a distinct lack of transparency, callous disregard for guest concerns, and a blatant attempt to exploit unsuspecting patrons. My tale of woe begins when an unforeseen circumstance involving a colleague contracting Covid-19 forced us to cancel our business trip within 36 hours of our scheduled arrival at this establishment. I am accustomed to booking Hilton hotel rooms with the assurance that I can cancel my stay by 23:59 on the night before without incurring any charges. However, the Doubletree Hotel in Portland decided to throw conventional practices out the window and enforce a 48-hour cancellation policy – a detail that was nowhere to be found when I made the reservation. The treacherous ordeal only escalated when, upon realizing the disparity between this hotel's cancellation policy and the rest of the Hilton chain, I promptly canceled my reservation through the Hilton app, well before the stipulated deadline. To my astonishment, the app confirmed the cancellation without any mention of fees, leading me to believe that I was in the clear. Imagine my utter shock when I discovered that the Doubletree had, in fact, charged me for the entire night's stay despite my diligence in canceling within the time frame specified by the app. My fault for not taking a screenshot of the cancelation notice. Equally concerning is the utter lack of professionalism exhibited by the hotel's management. My 3 attempts to communicate with the General Manager, a person presumably entrusted with guest satisfaction, have been met with abysmal failure. Not only does this individual appear to be 'missing in action, ' but the Hilton associates themselves are left clueless, diverting the responsibility back to the elusive GM. In one particularly disheartening encounter with a Hilton associate, I was informed that I had no recourse with them and was instructed to engage solely with the elusive GM. Such a dismissive stance reflects an alarming disregard for guest concerns and epitomizes the reprehensible customer service that Hilton is content to offer. In closing, my experience with the Doubletree has left a stain on my perception of the Hilton brand. The tactics employed to deceive guests, the punitive cancellation policies that deviate from the Hilton norm, and the total absence of responsiveness from the management reflect a business model built on exploitation rather than guest satisfaction. I must caution any potential patrons to tread carefully and remain vigilant when considering this particular Hotel as their accommodation choice.

Broken elevator Out of toiletries Shower grout coming out/ dirty bathroom Poor food (undercooked/fatty steak to the point of being uneatable) If I paid 100$ a night no big deal, but for what we paid, it was disappointing. Will not return

If you are visiting Portland, do not stay at this dirty hotel located on a busy street across from an aging Mall with many empty storefronts. Even the outdoor entrance is dirty with cigarette butts and trash, The food service is disgusting, The only nice aspect is that all the workers/ employees are nice and courteous. Try the Hilton Garden Inn or Embassy Suites at the airport that are clean and surrounded by greenery. Management will not return calls or emails to me.

Don’t be fooled by the uniqueness of staying in a round building or that the building says Double tree. We were upgraded from 3rd to 8th floor before arrival. If only the elevator could get us past floor 2-3. Got stuck going between 2-3 for almost 10 min. Walked down stairs with luggage. Finally got up to room which was ok. Dated, but functional. Props for the comfy bed/pillows. Elevator issue. Unacceptable. Spoke with desk clerk who simply said yea, it gets stuck between 2-3. No S&@t! We experienced this multiple times. I asked about second elevator. He mentioned they are waiting for a part. This hotel had floors above ours on 8. Breakfast. Buffet style (that part is common). Quality and temp of food was not good. Wife mentioned the sausage was hard on outside and liquid on the inside. French toast cold. Thank goodness for diamond reward credit we didn’t pay full full price. Walk over to Cracker Barrel behind the hotel for better and less expensive food. Verdict: Never again. Quality was below a typical Hampton. Either update and repair elevators or drop the double tree name.
