Best seafood chowder, it’s the runny kind, very few potatoes and so full of seafood, like almost a whole lobster in every bowl. All the diner food is really well done, will often get an eggs Benedict variation like with codfish cakes and the poached eggs are perfect. Blueberry pancakes are top notch too. Even the plain diner coffee is just really perfect.

A true Maine chowder should never be thick. I had the seafood chowder(bowl)which consisted of mollusks(sp), scallops, lobster and shrimp, here. Some places add clams and haddock in with the chowder, depends. I am allergic to shrimp so I can't take a chance and my waitress took it upon herself to omit all the shrimp that was in my soup I was really happy about that. Definitely recommend!!Parking: As the warm weather approaches I am sure it'll be harder to find parking spots. 2 pm in the afternoon was perfect!Wheelchair accessibility: I believe it had a ramp and stairs,, dont hold me to that. Call!!

It's been a few years since I last visited the Maine Diner. Stagg and server were very nice and attentive. That said, seafood chowder was luke warm, kids chicken tenders were dry and overcooked. Breakfast all day hash and eggs was cold and not homemade. Very disappointing for a 2 hour drive. Hoping it was a bad day between lunch and dinner time.

This was NOT my first time at the Maine Diner, but it will be a while before I return. To begin, they must have been short handed because our wait staff was not focused because of too many tables. The "Texas French Toast" were anything BUT Texas size toast. I would have hated to see the thickness of your "regular" French Toast. We paid $2.00 extra for "real" Maple Syrup that tasted like it had been watered-down. As for the Rueben, which I have enjoyed there in the past, the Corned beef was good and that was it. It really seemed like something was missing in the kitchen today!!!!Next time we go, we'll stick with what they are good at: "Seafood Chowder!"

This place is hopping! Be prepared to wait. Friendly service. Big portions. Recommend the special Downeaster Benedict though a bit on the salty side. Didn't care for the potatoes. Ask for hot and crispy so that they get to you hot and not mushy.

A staple of Wells. Food is consistent! Wish it was a little larger, maybe offer outdoor seating and more parking possible better hours. If it did it would compete with the big guys in town like Mikes and The Steakhouse. The food is simple and old fashioned if it ain't broke don't fix it. My grandmother (RIP) swore by their lobster pie.

I've never been so disappointed in breakfast from such an promised establishment. I ordered the 2s are wild and a side of hash(well done), my girlfriend ordered a custom omelet(with ham, onions, and salsa) and our son ordered just some plain pancakes. He wouldn't eat his pancakes they weren't warm and tasted dry, the syrup was smuckers.  Her omelet was egg wrap with the middle filled with her choices and was not appealing. I was looking so forward to my meats and none were desirable to me but our son ate them. My blueberry pancakes were the most upsetting. With being full of blueberries and being fully blue pancakes there was absolutely no blueberry taste. I thought it was just me but they all tried and agreed as well. My hash was still mushy inside the well baked scoop and came from can. We will never waste money here again.

The chowder is the best I have had ANYWHERE and famous for good reason. I think frequently of driving the 6 hours just to have some...
