Been here many times, only because I live nearby, and they have music many nights. The people that work there are very nice, and a lot of locals go because of the location and open till 9pm. Because I basically only eat meat I order a naked cheeseburger. Used to be a very large half cooked homemade burger, as I like it. Last night, got served a well done pre made and probably formerly frozen hockey puck. This is not the normal burger.Stopped there again in March of 2024, got the same formerly Frozen hockey puck, overdone. I can't believe the owner thinks we are going to be happy paying $18 for a hockey puck and some cold fries.

I had dinner at this restaurant while visiting Wiscasset over the weekend on a recommendation from family who lives locally, we actually went twice!! So safe to say we were fans! The decor and surroundings themselves were so homey and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, I am dreaming about the Haddock sandwich still! Truly the only complaint was the size of the salads which a few members of our party ordered was slightly disappointing. But they said that the flavor was fantastic and the shrimp they added was big and delicious! We also had the crème brûlée for dessert which I am also still dreaming of and probably will be for a while!! The service was fantastic, we absolutely loved our waitress! The whole atmosphere was wonderful; and I am sure we will be back next time we are in town visiting!!

What makes the Monstweag a great dining experience is the excellent waitstaff, in particular a young lady by the name of Madeline. She is very efficient and friendly. She went out of her way to accommodate my wife who has a number of food allergies. Montsweag is lucky to have such a nice, hard working young lady in their employ. Also the food was very good, haddock corn chowder was excellent, as was the haddock sandwich.

Excellent food! We had mussels and baked haddock; both were perfect. The service was exceptional as well. Can't wait to go back.

Being locals we like to frequent this place, good beer selection, great friendly staff and the food is outstanding. Plenty of seating and the bar area is very large.

We eat at the Montsweag Restaurant regularly because it's one of the best restaurants in the Bath area. This is Maine Restaurant Week, so we wanted to find out what the Montsweag is offering as specials. Wow!! They have a special menu with interesting and tasty selections. You can order the 3-course menu for $55 prix fixe, or you can order items ala carte. We particularly liked as a starter the pizzetta, and as entrees both the Fisherman's Seafood Kettle and the Lamb Stew. We tried both the tiramisu and poached pear desserts. Both were delicious. The Montsweag now serves brunch. We will be sampling that soon.

Food quality was disappointing. Bar service was just OK. Expected more. Just didn't deliver.

Charming restaurant overall but server insisted we keep the table light on the table during our meal. We let her know that it was just tall enough to block the face of the person across the table and she still insisted that it needed to stay. It was a bit off putting. Not sure I'll be back after that, we'll see.

Food was great, service was great, but at the bottom of the menu…“*$5 surcharge added for shared dishes”My party didn’t share any dishes, but it doesn’t feel good to eat somewhere that’s going to nickle and dime people on petty stuff like this. Puts a pin in the welcoming atmosphere.

Love this place! It’s been a staple in the area for a long time… but the new(ish) owner has done wonders for the food quality and atmosphere!! Highly recommend the house made soups and the fried chicken. Servers are fantastic, Lindsay is a ball of sunshine as are all the other employees here!

Lindsay was as great as the food! Delicious bloody Maria. House cured salmon Benedict was delectable. Fried haddock sandwich was as tasty as I've ever had. We'll be back!

The restaurant is LOUD - there is foam under the tables, I guess to try and deaden the sound, but any food stuff that might get in the foam might be a serious health hazard, as it would be virtually impossible to clean. The food was kind of bland, my wife had the short ribs, I had the "twin pork chop" (notice singular). I've eaten at a lot of different restaurants in my 67 years. Every other restaurant I've been to that has a similarly named pork chop is a single piece of meat with 2 bones. What I got was 2 separate chops that were not even neighbors in the pig. Dry as shoe leather and largely tasteless. Service could have been a little more attentive, after the waitress asked if we wanted water, we had to remind her that we wanted water. $125 including tip for a glass of wine, a glass of cider, an appetizer sampler and the above mentioned mains. I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.
