The food was good and the staff were very nice but I wish they'd turn down the lights a bit. It's very bright for dinner time.

Great food, I had a salad with the seafood cake. Good enough that I'd like to order it again tomorrow. Traveling alone and sat at the bar, everyone was welcoming and food delicious.

Unfortunately we had to leave before we ate as the restaurant had a smell like an old vacuum cleaner bag. The carpet was nasty so maybe it was that or possibly from the recent storms. not sure - we were looking forward to going there.

This place is sleepy and is in drastic need of a new audience. We went out for a date on a Sunday night and found ourselves as 1 of 2 remaining tables at 7:30pm. Service was quick, mixed drinks were strong and food was decent. Definitely a traditional local spot, likely appealing to a long-term aging audience. We found the seating near the windows to be drafty (it's winter) and asked to be relocated to a high-top toward the middle of the room, which helped. Our waitress was pleasant but not warm beyond pleasantries. We likely will not be back here as there are many options in the Portland area to choose from, with ambiance, food and service that make you really thrilled to dine out. This was not that place.

WE HAD BEEN GOING TO THE MUDDY RUDDER MANY TIMES PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC. FOR MANY REASONS WE HAVE NOT BEEN TO MANY RESTAURANTS SINCE. BUT OUR EXPERIENCE YESTERDAY WAS VERY GOOD. GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE, AND THE PLACE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

The Fish Tacos, Brussels sprouts, and carrot cake were great. My friends and I had a very enjoyable lunch. The waitress was attentive but did not rush us. We will definitely go back.

I hadn't visited in over a decade and was pleasantly surprised. Great menu including gluten free and vegetarian options. Fantastic view and really attentive service. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Last night we met with another couple for dinner. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our meals and desserts. ITs situation on the riverbank and the big parking lot add to its attraction
Food was Luke warm. Steak tips very chewy. Server was perfectly attentive. Ambiance was good except it’s always a little chilly here!

It's okay. It's very dated & it feels like you've fast forwarded from 1978 to a run down nursing home. The haddock was good. Very fresh & well prepared. The hamburger was ok but we asked for medium rate & it was well done. The fries were perfect. The onion rings were Horrible. They were clumped together, the coating was overly thick and they were greasy. It's kinda neat to go to a place that's a relic from my youth but it needs a refresh. The staff was fabulous and it was very inexpensive for high quality. They also need to update their background music playlist because All the music is mid 70's to mid 80's and it felt out of touch.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary. Everything was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and professional. The food and atmosphere were perfect. Highly recommend the Muddy Rudder for a special occasion

Our dinners were excellent, though my husband could not finish the metal tray full of fisherman's platter (couldn't finish the leftovers for lunch today, either). My creme brûlée was warm-ish and runny, but the taste was still good. The table was not in the best location, considering our reservation was made a week in advance. Not our best experience at the Muddy Rudder, but certainly acceptable.
