For how nice this hotel is, their food is really mediocre. I stayed here for a weekend this month and we dined at The Tiller twice (once was in-room dining, the other was at the bar). Service was great, but food was definitely "meh" for how expensive it was. I got a Bloody Mary the 2nd day and the mix was pre-made and something you could get at a liquor store. They could have at least taken it out of the labeled bottle and pretended it was their own! The standout food was the corn and lobster chowder. The cheese and meat board we got was pretty sad, and the tuna poke didn't taste made-to-order. Don't go out of your way to eat here. If you're staying at the hotel for the weekend have maybe one meal here and save your other meals for dining outside of the resort!

Writing this review based on two negative experiences. Waitstaff is completely understaffed. We waited 45 minutes for a table after being told 20. Once seated we waited another 30 minutes for sever to come over and take our drink order. When the food finally came out, they informed one person in my party they didn't have what he ordered. This is over an hour after ordering. French fries were ice cold for everyone else. To get to the point, a simple lunch took over three hours. The neighboring table was so irritated they walked out without paying. We didn't do that but I wanted to. Won't be going back. Urge you to be very careful dining here. Shame, because the views and hotel are gorgeous. Tom. Boston

Service was great but food was subpar. Lacked flavor, presentation poor. A $200 dinner and left feeling very unsatisfied! Atmosphere and views were beautiful. Our waitress was amazing but it stopped there. Would not recommend this place for dinner.

The Tiller stands out as a gem in the dining scene, particularly for its consistently exceptional drinks. The bar at The Tiller is a testament to mixology expertise, with each sip of their carefully crafted cocktails being a delightful journey of flavors. The attention to detail in the drink selection and presentation is commendable, making every visit a unique and enjoyable experience.

Maybe the chef and cooking staff were overwhelmed with orders, maybe servers were understaffed. Food was alittle disappointing; under -cooked Friday dinner, over-cooked eggs Sunday breakfast

Dinner Sat night- 3 orders of waguy burgers medium and all were almost raw. Sunday breakfast - ordered New England eggs Benedict, potatoes were dry and the 2 eggs were not at all runny like a poached egg is suppose to be, almost hard boiled. Service was very slow. Don't mean to be negative but for the prices charged, the food should be much better. Disappointing.

Outstanding experience! The view is absolutely breathtaking. We ate here for both dinner and breakfast. If you're seated by the window for breakfast, they really ought to have some type of shade or awning to help with the intense sun glade. I advise bringing sunglasses. Food was delicious, service was a little bit underwhelming (could be friendlier) but I'll chalk it up to being off-season. The waitress got our breakfast order a little wrong (messed up sides) and tried to argue with us about it, so knocked a star there. But the quality of the food was delicious and the decor, seats, tables, and space were all comfortable, updated and beautiful. Excited to return!

Had a really nice experience dining here for my birthday. Our server was excellent, very kind and attentive. Food was pricey but very good. Ambience obviously wonderful being such a scenic hotel. Would certainly recommend to anyone!

They changed the seasonal menu very recently. The steak was taken off the menu. When I asked the server he said he would check with the chef. Both the chef and waiter came back table side explained they had 2 NY sirloin steaks left and asked me how I wanted it prepared and the sides. He cooked it to perfection and came back to the table after. One of the most tender steaks I e er had; great presentation. Great service.

Great setting. Service was a bit slow but all their computers were down so everything was done manually. Staff pleasant & doing their very best. They sat my friend & I in a big lovely seat b/c it was her bday. Nice setting for a special brunch. Pricey but I was expecting that.

Warning: food poisoning We came to stay at the cliff house for a one night getaway. Reviews of the hotel were great and we booked a reservation at the Tiller restaurant figuring it must be decent. Shortly prior to our reservation we realized yelp reviews weren't actually all that great but we figured we'd give it a try as it was a chilly, dreary night and we didn't feel like venturing out. Husband had hangar steak that come with polenta and broccolini. I had squash salad with salmon and we shared a side of asparagus. Husband gave his a 2.5 rating. Mine was similar. The asparagus we shared was undercooked. I had the sangria, my husband didn't drink. Service was good. We agreed it wasn't impressive and we probably wouldn't come back (except for maybe a simple breakfast). 6 hours later my husband wakes up acutely ill with stomach cramps and GI symptoms consistent with food poisoning. Better by AM. Needless to say we did not go again for breakfast. If we ever come back to stay we will avoid dining on site. Total bummer.

The Tiller restaurant at the Cliff house did a wonderful job from the time we arrived for our reservation until then end of our dinner. The food was delicious and the ocean views were incredible.

Food order was not complete. I asked for my food to be extra hot and the food was not hot. They left out the spinach in my omelette but did give be a side order but at that point I was almost finished with my meal. The omelette had ver little tomatoes in it. It was loaded with bacon. Disappointed in my meal.

I was hesitant to book because of so many mixed reviews, but I will say we were very pleased! The food was very good and very filling -- with a shared app and 2 small plates, we had no room for dessert! I had a mocktail that was too weirdly sweet but my husband had a delicious wine. The room is tasteful, the lighting delightful -- the only complaint was the cold radiating off the windows -- wish I had brought a sweater! The prices aren't meant for value, but we knew that going in. A solid 4 overall in our book!

Excellent service. Food was great except I would pass on the shrimp cocktail next time - rather lackluster in presentation and shrimp size for the price and the cocktail sauce tasted too much like ketchup. Otherwise the meal was great. Scallops were a highlight.
