The carryout menu and service at Dessous is outstanding! I can't recommend the sushi or gnocchi with mushrooms highly enough! Definite must try.

In town on business and I'm in to trying out new places so I "hosted" a happy hour here then invited all of my friends to join us! By the way, happy hour goes until close on Tuesdays! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor is this hidden gem. It's kinda next to Rush Street and The Ark, but a couple of doors down. This place does not have its own parking lot so good luck with finding street parking or throwing your ride in a structure. Once in the simple glass door you immediately walk downstairs and are greeted by some very, very nice, modern, chic decor. It looks very elegant and mature. The bar area is to the left and the main dining room is to the right. We sat in the bar area "lounge" because that's where happy hour is. Service: Service was excellent. They were very accommodating for sure. I originally said 14 people were coming so they had set aside an entire series of tables for us. Well, people were cancelling left and right because of the snow or something so it only wound up being 8 of us, but the staff were so nice about it. Our bartender took excellent care of us and made sure we had the best time ever! Food: So we're here for happy hour so I'm going to try a few things out on the menu! I started with the Duck Confit Nachos which are crispy wontons topped with, manchego, avocado, sriracha créme fraiche and of course... juicy shredded duck. These were fantastic. I had 2 orders. Lol. After my first order I switched to the Lamb Bolitas which are basically lamb meatballs in a lamb jus with créme fraiche, manchego cheese. They were absolutely juicy and delicious. I liked the duck nachos better so I switched back to those. Value: VERY good for a restaurant with food of this quality at happy hour time! So wine is only $5.00 a glass which is definitely good. All the appetizers are 30% off too! The duck nachos were originally $14.00, but drop down to $9.80. The lamb bolitas were $10.00 and dropped down to $7.00. That's a GREAT deal for a nice, modern, more upscale place like this! In conclusion, I'd love to come back here again for sure! I may make it here for dinner someday as well.

This was our first time eating at Dessous and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there. The menu is a wonderful fusion of Indian and French cuisine and while it fits on 1 page, each dish ranging from salads to appetizers to main entrees that we ordered and ate were excellent. We also tried several of the crafted cocktails and enjoyed them as well. Service was friendly and efficient also.

I refer to this place as my happy place. I go here for treat yo self days, special occasions. Or just when I'm craving quality steak. Managment/host(?) Is real personable and flexible, not some worker on auto pilot as I find all to common within restraunts in general. Arlene is by far the best wait staff in town. Took my sister out for a celebratory night of fun on the town, the restraunt quality and experience is what really made her night though. For that I cant thank yall enough.

Chose this place from Open Table. We stopped by the Blue Lama beforehand for a drink and found out that they are under the same ownership. The vibe at Dessous is definitely cool and the service was attentive. No idea why the XFL was on a TV at the bar. That didn't fit. The food was excellent. The flavor profiles leaned Indian and the menu selections covered fish, beef and fowl well. The Caesar was great for sharing. I had the whitefish and my girlfriend had the duck. Both were bursting with spice and aroma. Great compliments on both plates.

I first tried Dessous early on when it opened with my parents, who came in from NYC, and we all were really impressed with the quality of food, innovative menu, and nice service! I've been back a few times, with quality service and food each time. The mix of flavors and unique menu items make this place a gem of Ann Arbor, especially for a nice evening out. Recently, I had a small, minor mix up with our bill (which sounds like had to do with switching to a new billing system), and I couldn't believe how responsive, understanding, and professional the management was about it. I was really blown away by the attention to detail and cordiality of the staff in addressing this issue. Not only is Dessous's food incredible, but they have really professional managers and staff. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant experience!

I have to say the food was great but the service was so bad that I cannot give this place higher than a 1 star. I'm not sure what the problem was but everyone seemed to have a real issue with the fact that we were coming in and having dinner an hour before they were scheduled to close. At one point they even tried to tell us the kitchen was closed after appetizers. Believe I would have left but someone else from our party politely asked if we could stay and order. We were also celebrating a birthday but FORGET about even asking about dessert. The guy that was the host was VERY nice and cordial. Everyone else was a dick. Seriously. I would not go here. Plenty of nice places in Ann Arbor to go

One of the first cuisines in Ann Arbor. Visited to spend time after a busy day, I can never regret visiting this place. Their shrimp tacos, crab cakes and coconut roti is a must. Their cocktails are a good try. Go visit.... you can never regret.

Went here with a friend for restaurant week and we really enjoyed our meal! The space is open yet our table in the corner felt nice and private. The lighting is excellent; I could easily read the menu yet it felt soft, inviting, and intimate. Very "hygge". The plating of the food was well-executed and the seasoning and pairings were interesting and delicious. I also appreciated the European wine selection; so many restaurants are featuring wines from California and skipping traditional French, Italian, and Spanish regions. I'd like to see more Michigan wines featured as well (specifically the Leelanau peninsula!) Our server was available and helpful, and everything was thoughtfully done. Can't wait to return!

I just liked their food. I always get fantastic customer service here. The place is clean and the cashiers are always very kind. Will come back again.

We enjoyed our New Year’s Eve dinner yesterday at Dessous. I recommend the squash soup and the lamb meatballs as starters. For entrees I enjoyed the steak with mushrooms and sautéed veggies, and mashed potatoes. I added the frisée salad (w/ apricot & ginger), which was dressed nicely with a perfect balance of oil and acid to bring out bright flavors. The butter chicken is also delicious. I’m planning on coming back for restaurant week!

Delicious and unique from start to finish!

Food wasn't bad, definitely a fusion of fusion but I ended up just ordering steak since they were out of their more popular items. We went on Saturday night and they were out of 4 of the entrees and even ran out of the naan. They said there were more reservations than they planned on - maybe cutting off reservations would have been a better idea than continuing to accept reservations with only 1/2 of the menu available. Nobody in our group was impressed. Neat space and great location.
