My happy place for food. Every meal I’ve had here has been wonderful. Real food made with real care. The smells and music make you feel at home. I live a good 40 miles from here but make a point to stop every conceivable

Amazing experience for my wife and I. Very generous and warming people with an eclectic and very beautifully tribal atmosphere. Yousef and his two parents were such a pleasure to meet. Very sweet people, and very tasty food. Will be back inshallah????

The short take is hillarysa market and Cafe is a gem way out by Speedway on Maple and Miller. The long story is I wanted meat an thought a hamburger. But I'm gluten free so only certain places have been free buns etc. I knew Harissa was close to me so i went in bought three lovely lamb beef gluten-free meatballs on a bed of perfect saffron rice. as I enjoyed my meal I surrounded by beautiful handcrafted gift ideas and imported Delicacies. I think I might make this my regular Friday treat.Dietary restrictions: They have vegetarian and gluten free options I had the meatballs.

Far more variety than most middle eastern restaurants, absolutely excellent quality dishes. Not over-salted like so many places.

Charming little market restaurant. Gives the vibes of Tunisia with some delicious food that tastes as close to authentic as you will get in Michigan.

Finally visited today after wanting to come here for a while and we were not disappointed! We were greeted by the friendly staff who kindly explained the menu to us. The food was great! So fresh and hearty. Nice portion sizes and good prices. The owners, Khaled and Susan, were so kind and welcoming and offered great conversations and tea. In addition to the amazing food and atmosphere are the great finds ranging from ceramics, hand-made jewelry, spices, various harissa pastes and more! We will definitely be back. Thank you guys!

They have Rosewater Baklava Gelato & Tahini Hot Chocolate. I repeat: ROSEWATER BAKLAVA GELATO & TAHINI HOT CHOCOLATE. I don’t think you need any other reason to go. Everything is delicious & the staff are friendly & helpful.

Truly fantastic. The best place in town. The food is scrumptious--all cooked from scratch and inventive, delicious, flavorful. Also, THE BEST GELATO IN TOWN, with the most original and fabulous flavors!! Run by an incredible family — friendly service, lovely attention to detail, accommodating and all-around really good people. The dine-in space is cozy--surrounded by art and plants. Plus, they have a wonderful market where I like to do my holiday shopping and buy olive oil. Do not miss out on a stop to El Harissa. They are a gem of a restaurant—truly the best of Ann Arbor.

El Harissa is one of Ann Arbor’s most precious gems. Not only can you pick up uniquely delicious Tunisian/Moroccan cuisine, you can treat yourself to a great selection of GELATO by the scoop! The staff and owners (family owned and managed) consistently have an excellent reputation for genuine kindness and great service. The food is prepared fresh daily and served in various proportions takeout style (refrigerated or hot if specified), but there is limited cozy dining space and table service if you choose to dine there. I love the salads, chicken tagine, everyone loves the spice mushrooms! Try the myriad of fresh accompaniments such as their namesake (harissa!), carrot dip (huriyya?), garlic dip (labneh), and hummus!Need good gifts? The accompanying Market in the cafe is great and has new unique, high quality olive oils as well as unique Tunisian finds that the family personally finds on travel. I bought an awesome collection of wooden spoons and forks that have served me well for years now. I also buy olive oil there. My friends and extended family have been amazed that with only one visit, one of the family owner members remembered their name and profession upon their return. It is that kind of vibe!Vegetarian options: There is something for everyone here. The salads are a full meal in the large size. Vegan and gluten free options that are not French fries ?

Beyond satisfied by this food! Always leave healthy and full. The menu offers some more cultured food that offers some diversity from traditional Ann Arbor Restaurants. Liberty (An employee) is my favorite to work with and very hospitable. I'm also planning on getting my wedding Catered from here. Inside the place is set up like a Deli with seating, during summer the place breathes life, plants inside and out as well as outdoor seating.

Despite getting food from El Harissa multiple times, I unfortunately don't have any food photos because, well, I ate it all :) The food here is seriously top-quality, fresh, and delicious. The staff is always so helpful in explaining what's in each dish and giving recommendations. These are some of my personal favorites: Spice Roasted Mushrooms: I could just pop these, they are ridiculously good! El Harissa somehow gets this lovely, super light crisp on the mushrooms while keeping them juicy and tender inside. The flavor is slightly reminiscent of falafel (I'm figuring that's the chickpea flour) but with a little more zest. These are a must-get! Spice Roasted Cauliflower: like the mushrooms, delicious! Root Vegetable & Date Tagine: what a beautiful dish! The tagine is silky and thick from all the root vegetables, and the dates and pomegranate molasses add a complimentary sweetness. Even if you're not plant-based, I think this is worth an order! Bacalao Fish Pie: unique and yummy! It sells out fast though, so you might have to be like me and try multiple times to get your hands on it. Black Tea and Saffron Rice Pudding: a seriously beautiful dessert, in looks and taste! Super silky, cooling, and flavorful. I especially love the juicy raisins because boy are they juicy! They're basically fully rehydrated so eating them is kind of like eating nature's popping boba. Then the nuts add a crunchy texture into the mix, really great! Other items that I've tried include the Chicken Tagine, Mujadara Rice, and Lablabi. I wasn't as blown away by these items but they were still very good and wouldn't be mad getting them again myself. On the whole, I think El Harissa Market has some of the best food in Ann Arbor!!! Definitely check it out. They have a really cute market inside too which is nice to peruse when they're warming up your food.
