The best of both worlds! Small town feel with big city hotel amenities it’s a nice day and I would think I would do it again. The cool part is that the staff is very inviting and can put a smile on your face by going over and beyond. It a low key - not busy hotel with near NEW amenities.

My siblings and I needed a place to hold a Celebration of Life for my mom. We called several venues in Battle Creek and the only place that responded was Courtyard by Marriott. We worked with Sam to plan the event. The facility was perfect. The room for the event was clean, everything was set up exactly as we wanted, everyone was very welcoming, and the food was perfect. There was a beautiful outdoor patio space adjacent to the event room that were also able to use. We could not have asked for a more welcoming place to hold this event. My immediate family is from out of town so we all had rooms at the hotel, as well. Again the rooms were spacious and clean. Service was amazing, and the price was perfect. I would highly recommend this hotel and their event space.

I did not stay here myself, but we held a Memorial/Celebration of life at this hotel. I would highly recommend this facility for a special occasion. Sam, the event manager was very welcoming, approachable and accommodating for our event. The staff was attentive and we felt that everyone who was there that day went out of their way to make our event go smoothly. We had many family members who stayed at the hotel and said what a nice place it was. We had access to the beautiful outdoor courtyard for the entire event and well into the evening. I would highly recommend this place for an event or a great place to stay.

Better than I expected - after reading the reviews, I was a bit leary. The rooms were clean, which was my main concern. We were there for a baseball tournament & we were only offered a room with a King bed & pull out, for my family of 5. It was a little cramped, but the King sized bed was big enough & comfortable. The pull out was an odd shaped couch, but turned into a decent sized (single?) bed. Luckily my family is on the smaller side, so we all slept comfortably. The shower was spacious & we appreciated the great smelling body wash, shampoo & conditioner bottles on the wall. But there isn't a shower door for the whole length, so water splashed out onto the floor & there was a shortage of towels, so we had to be careful stepping on the floor & conscious of our towel usage. Pretty bummed that Starbucks was closed for our entire stay. Between that & no complimentary breakfast, mornings were a bit rough. But the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean & had modern decor, & the location was great - lots of places to eat & shop very close by, so I wouldn't mind staying here again! It seems the majority of the bad reviews were by people who had more of a situational issue...

I am a Marriott Rewards Member. I NORMALLY only stay at Marriott properties. THIS Courtyard by Marriott is a shameful representation of Marriott. My husband unfortunately had to stay here for 20 days for work. Initial impression was that the hotel is dirty, in need of updating and repairs, poor housekeeping services and inexperienced, unprofessional staff. No free breakfast (which is the norm for Courtyard), and the restaurant/Starbucks coffee bar didn’t open until 7am. The staff working there didn’t know anything about Starbucks products. When we arrived, the lobby was very hot. We were told the AC was broken in the lobby. The carpet in the elevators was soiled and had random pieces of debris that weren’t picked up over the 2 days I stayed with my husband. When we arrived to his room, the bathroom had LARGE PIECES OF HAIR (as if someone gave themselves a haircut) under the bathroom sink counter, additional hair all over the bathroom floor and popcorn on the carpet in the bedroom. There were only two small, shallow drawers for clothing storage. The fixtures and design of the room is very dated and worn. I asked the front desk for a door tag to indicate to housekeeping that the room needed cleaning. We were told that Courtyard only provided housekeeping services every 3 days. My husband was there for 5 days and had not received any housekeeping services. When he inquired at the front desk, he was told that he had to REQUEST housekeeping services and then received many excuses from the staff member that COVID had altered their ability to provide normal services. So, my husband requested that his room be cleaned when he left the hotel for work at 6am (day 5 of his stay). Upon his return at 1 pm, the room still had not been touched. Courtyard says they are designed for the Business Traveler. If you’re looking for a dirty room to sleep for a few hours, this is your place. If you’re looking for an overpriced room with no amenities (tiny fridge and microwave, dirty coffee maker in room)….this is the place for you.

First, I much prefer to write nice happy reviews of wonderful places providing excellent service. The Marriott Courtyard in Battle Creek is NOT one of those places. My wife and I checked in for three days. The place was generally not clean and the elevators were so bad they posted a sign to let you know in spite of them shaking to the point of scaring people, they had been inspected. Not reassuring. The next day, our room was not refreshed. It was then, for the first time, I was informed their new policy is to only refresh the rooms every third day, meaning, no refresh of any kind for our three day stay. The General Manager did not make herself available to me during my entire stay to explain this horrible customer abuse. I actually believe there was NO management at this property. They clearly misled me on the website knowing no one would make reservations if they knew they would get no service. Plus, they never informed us of “their new policy” until one day after arrival. There are many other places to stay adjacent to this Marriott Courtyard at lower rates which are actually managed. I will not be choosing Marriott Bonvoy for anything in the future. Shame on Marriott. How far they have fallen.

The staff billed me twice for our 2-day stay. People make mistakes. I asked them to correct it. They said that they would, right away. They didn't. It has taken three calls now, with a new promise that they would correct it right away, 12 days later. On top of it, the woman was very rude to me. (I've stayed at Marriott's from Japan to Greece and most U.S. States. I've never met this level of rudeness before). Also, the room was not close to Marriott level clean. We asked the maid to clean our room the second day. She said that there was a sign at the check-in desk that stated we had to ask for our room to be cleaned upon check-in. I went downstairs and there was no sign. I asked the clerk and she told me that there was a sign but they had put it in the back (behind the wall) a few days ago. She refused to have my room cleaned as I hadn't requested it upon sign-in as stated on the sign. She told me that she would bring the sign out for me to see if I wanted. BTW, if you need a microwave, there is an old-fashioned microwave, without a turning tray, in the lobby. This Marriott is not worth the price or the headache. This place needs a serious Marriott Corporate review.

Upon arrival the front desk employee was not readily available. She took a few minutes before coming out from the back. The room was not very clean. All the mirrors had a smear that was quite cloudy. The bathroom sink did not drain very well and there were only a couple bath towels. We did not care for the hotel room coffee. Lol. The TV worked well and had many channels to choose from. The mini refrigerator was great to have available. Check out was completed through the app. Also, I was charged twice for the room, a week later, and when I called back to dispute the second charge, they could not find it/see it. I had to dispute it and I will find other cleaner accommodations in the area, in the future.

I have stayed many nights at Courtyards across the US and this is my first negative experience. The room was not fresh and had a slight odor. The carpet did not appear to have been cleaned recently. The toilet took forever to fill the tank, the shower head leaked when turned off. It also had mold. I asked the Front desk clerk about coffee in the morning and she stated that due to COVID it was unavailable yet next morning we found a coffee set up in the lobby as we were leaving. Also, one elevator was out of service and the other was very slow. The carpet in the elevator was filthy and there were fingerprints and smears on the walls. The lobby women’s restroom had one stall that was out of service and only one small roll of toilet paper in one of the other two stalls. Overall, it appears maintenance at this location has been neglected. With the COVID issues I would think extra effort would be put into cleanliness but what we found makes me question the effort being made to sanitize this property

We first visited this hotel in October 2020. The man who he night we checked in was the best (we learned on our 2nd visit he was on sick leave). It was because of him that we came back again. He was so accommodating, lighting the fire pit, going above and beyond to make sure we were settled in. Fast forward to November 2020 when we came back. Totally different check in experience. She was short and not approachable. I asked about the fire pit and got an “I don’t know if I can” because it was late and might be windy (I hadn’t even felt a single breeze - we even commented on that when we got there, and hat it wasn’t windy like last time (and it was lit) and we were excited to have the fire). The fire pit for us was a selling point. Ok no big deal. We got our rooms and dropped our stuff off and left. Came back later that night and the elevators were down. My brother is handicapped with a cane. We asked how long they would be down and got “I don’t know, probably not long” . So we decided to not pursue that since we had settled in and figured they would both be fixed soon. The next day, nope. Later that day we discovered it would be several days. Both elevators were down. On to our room - definitely could use a good cleaning. It wasn’t disgusting, just a bit unused feeling. The phone didn’t work, I here was only one set of towels (big towel, hand towel, rag) in a double bed room. Due to Covid, some of the hotel amenities were closed, which was understandable - but the pool was open? It wasn’t open in October so I was a bit surprised. You cannot get clean towels but every few days (I had to ask for a 2nd set for my roommate) and the sheets not changed for like every 7 days. Also there was not a free breakfast, not even a continental (but I knew that). Overall I was just disappointed so much in the customer service and such. Now we are not sure if we will return our next visit. It’s amazing how much that matter and the change in two months.
