One of our best food experiences in Detroit! Drinks were lovely. Service was five-star, everyone was so kind and friendly, and the whole staff signed a birthday card. We loved our first course of the chicken skewer and bao buns- the fried chicken bao was phenomenal. Delicious Wagyu and udon for main. Flavors were complex and perfection in every dish! Thank you Basan, for a wonderful experience. Will be back soon!

Went out to dinner with my best friend and decided to try Basan for the first time. It was an excellent choice. Great drinks, very tasty food and amazing service.We ordered the shiitake skewer (9/10), octopus skewer (8/10), pork belly bun (8/10), smoked carrots (9/10), beef tartare (9/10) and the scallops (10/10). Everything was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were bold. I got the Phantom Tear cocktail and I would go back just for that.Shout out to Juan Manuel our waiter. He was always there with a great smile and super helpful.

Experienced the comfy lounge tonight. Excellent service (thank you!! Angel), food and music. My faves were the octopus skewers, thai corn dogs, chicken thigh bao. Great selection of cocktails and sake. A must try for people that like smoky cocktails " a certain way"

The best restaurant in Detroit. Incredibly friendly staff. The best tasting food anywhere in Michigan. Their food is also so creative. As someone who has visited nearly every restaurant from eastern market to corktown to new center, I cannot recommend Basan highly enough.
I bought Valentine’s Day package for my parents to enjoy the night. I’ve never been to Basan so was eager to learn their rating. My parents loved the ambiance, but that was about it. The food had the same flavor profile through the savory courses and the desert did not wow them. The drinks were extremely small also. I was very disappointed as the tickets were $100 pp (not including drinks). I don’t think I will be going to Basan after their experience.

Chicken wing came frozen and blood gushing out. They had to bring a new batch. Ordered an appetizer and it never arrived then was still on our bill. Why should I have to point that out? Waiter was nice, but had no knowledge of the menu. I love the atmosphere but I expected better. Brussel sprout bun was delicious though.

Disappointment with the food portion sizes and pricing. The dishes seemed to resemble happy hour bites rather than full-sized portions, yet the prices were reflective of a regular dining experience. This left me feeling that the value for money was not aligned with the expectations.

I don't usually write reviews, but wanted to take the opportunity to express how much I LOVE this place. Have happily been many times before, but recently made a last minute reservation of 8 for my birthday. To say they the staff was accommodating is an understatement - they went above and beyond just getting us a table and actually had us dining in a private area and sent over complimentary desserts, snacks, and drinks. Special shoutout to our server Elisa, bartender Valor, and the manager Alan - you guys really made this one of the best birthday ever <3 <3 <3
We did the 6 course dinner at the chefs table with drink pairings and it was by far the best dinner experience I’ve ever had!
