Sorry Cass Cafe, but you've changed. My family and I were there yesterday and ordered four different meals, the Monte Christo, Chicken Chilaquiles, Chicken and Waffles and Eggs Benedict. They were all terrible. I don't think I can recall ever having a worse meal at a restaurant ever. The chilaquiles were a bizarre pile of nacho chips with gristly chicken buried inside. The eggs benedict lacked canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce — just two lonely eggs dwarfed on a dry English muffin. The chicken and waffles were dry with bones, and my husband’s monte christo was inedible. The table next to us sent two dishes back. This is nothing like the Cass Cafe we remember from many, many visits over the decades. I know places are short staffed right now, but please change the menu to reflect your limitations. We left literally feeling sick to our stomachs. So disappointed because it was a special occasion and this is where we chose to eat of all the places in Detroit. Not to mention we waited a really long time for our meals. I remember saying "hopefully the food is so good it's worth the wait." Not. Don't eat here unless they announce a new menu, chef or change in ownership. Cass Cafe you truly need to give some sort of explanation for this. I'm really sorry to leave this review but it was that bad.

I lived in Cass Corridor growing up and on and off for 48 years.Cass Cafe has been very good to me good food good friends. Great atmosphere. Shout out to Dave Robert's for showing my artwork herecame for the total experience. The posthumous art show for Detroit artist Rico Africa, and the beer battered fish and chips.Sorry no photos. I did create a live video on Facebook live.?

used to really love their food but it seems that it has gotten worse. Their lentil burger just tasted like a bean paddy, and their vegan style wings are no longer Quorn but poorly fried cauliflower, with batter chunks all in the sauce and none on the actual cauliflower.

I've been eating here for like 20 years and today when I ordered a chicken and waffle sandwich and ahi tuna salad the menu was different. My chicken and waffles was seasoned wings with all of these bones inside and 2 sort of moist waffles. Additionally the fries seemed... Different in some way. It's possible that I forgot to order a side of the garlic aioli, but it's equally possible that the new server I had never seen before had forgot, or that it's also not on the menu. Who could really say?Google still indicates the previous menu at the time of this post, I don't see a new menu. Maybe it's just me and I have bad taste and don't know how to use the internet, but it doesn't matter bc I'm just not going to come here any longer.

Ordered fried vegetables. Got this. Not sure what this is but was inedible. Also when food was brought out, bugs that were flying followed. The food was mostly inedible and disgusting. Pretty sure the vegetables were rotten that they served us and the onion ring batter was raw. And then the bill was $50 for three appetizers that were all not edible. Still tipped the waiter good even though his service was lacking. Just save your time and money and don’t eat here.

The food was good. But it was not busy at all when I went, and the service was one of the slowest I've ever witnessed. It took FOREVER to just get a quesadilla. The server just kept forgetting about us.

Was there Sat evening. They seem understaffed, which seems to be the norm these days, so I get it. Food is basic, service was slow. My first time there, plenty of other options in Mid-town.

Use to go there all the time before pandemic..The only dish I had before was on menue...The presentation was nothing like before and was not as good.. I hope they get more dinners on the menue..Lot of sanwiches.sandwiches.. The soup was very good. Love the Art work..And Ian was very attentive and professional! Will be back for a good Salad. It was nice to go back to a place you fell in love with!

No more lentil soup? Wow. Was a Cass Corridor staple. But the lentil burger is now vegan!

Oh why did the Cass Cafe get rid of their calamari dish? I'm really gutted. It was some of the best tasting Calamari in Metro Detroit. Please bring it back. I had to have Fish and chips instead. Not the same.

Stopped here with friends before a show at the Hilberry Theatre. Simple café with a great atmosphere. Take time to enjoy the art while you wait for your food. I had the shepherds pie special and friends had soup and sandwiches. Menu seemed to have something for everyone. Oh, and the brownie, say yes to the brownie!

Went for a romantic Valentine's dinner, and that's definitely what I got. The atmosphere of this place made us feel like we were dining in an art gallery. The food was good, the music choice was great, the staff was phenomenal. Can't think of a thing that could be better

Keep them in business! Support local because they have been serving WSU students, faculty, and guests for decades. The owners, Chuck and Diane, are genuinely great folks, giving support and keeping space for artists both the established and the newcomers. And, of course, the Lentil Burger is a dietary staple.

Beer battered fish has no batter and no flavor. The Sriracha wings taste great but I really small. the fries are great!

Absolutely love the staff and the vibe of the place. Clearly sets a comfortable environment for a might out, the food is amazing and honestly feel the place is underrated gem. Lot of art all around and easily one of the go to restaurants in Detroit.
