Our dinner was exceptional. From the second we sat down, I knew we were in capable hands. Our server, Melissa, was able to suggest dishes based on our preferences. Delicious. Fresh. Full of flavor and lovely presentation.

Oh.M.Gee....this place is amazing!! Really loved my dinner last night!! What did we have? BREAD & BUTTER 8 house sourdough, seasonal butter We started with the bread and butter. Their homemade sourdough bread was filled with all kinds of yummy grains and rivaled anything I had in Europe. It was served with cherry-jam butter, which was ok in my mind--I would have been perfectly happy with salted butter. TWICE COOKED EGG* 14 werp farms' greens, brussels sprout, salty cheese, warm shallot vinaigrette The egg atop this salad was really interesting...they took a poached egg and dipped it and fried it. The Brussels sprouts in this salad were super flavorful. I really enjoyed it. The rest of what we had was not on the website for me to grab descriptions and cost. We also had mushroom spring rolls, which were so flavorful! The tiny mushrooms in the spring rolls (not fried, my favorite kind!) were accompanied by many other fresh vegetables and had a delicious dipping sauce. We also had some broccolini and the pork chop. That pork chop was also super flavorful accompanied by collard greens, grits and cornbread. All of this food was so filling I had to take most of the pork chop dish home for today. The service was outstanding. My water glass never went below the halfway mark, and we never had need to pour wine from the bottle because Megan, our waitress, was ON IT!! While the interior of this place is loud, I didn't find myself shouting to be heard. The whole place is painted chartreuse, just like the name. We wrapped all of this up with 2 tastes of chartreuse...the green one was more herbaceous, leaning toward savory, and the yellow chartreuse was sweet. I liked the yellow best and my boyfriend preferred the green. I will highly recommend and plan to come back sometime. Yum-o!! Overall, I'd highly recommend

My husband and I were referred here by The Inn on Ferry Street (where we were staying, which I also give 5-stars!) and we loved it SO much, we came back the next night too (which happened to be Valentine's Day)! EVERY member of their staff is outstanding, excelling in topnotch service and friendliness (special shout out to Jack!), and the food was absolutely exquisite in uniqueness (is that a word?) and flavor. LOVE their concept that each dish is meant to be shared (much like tapas), so we ordered 4 choices (including dessert), which seemed just right for the 2 of us. We highly recommend the fish curry, twice cooked egg, the Madagascar vanilla pudding (dessert), and the Mockingbird (non-alcoholic cocktail). The atmosphere is just the right combination of comfortable and classy, but without that "snooty" feel of some other dining establishments that we walked into (and out of) in the area. When we came back the next evening, everyone there thanked us for coming back again (!), and even gave us our drink for free for doing so! Wow, we can't wait to come back next time we're in the Detroit area.Vegetarian options: Lots of tempting choices on the menu, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

I was in Detroit for business and did a quick survey of the restaurants in the area I was staying; Warren. So I expanded my search to Detroit and found Chartreuse on the outskirts in a trendy art district. Easy to get to and ample parking. Once I got inside I knew that I made a great decision to take a little more xtra drive. I didn't have a reservation but the hostess found me a nice spot at the bar. The bartender was cool to talk to and super helpful with drink and food recommendations. They have a nice list of specialty cocktails but I asked for a vesper which is my favorite martini. No problem at all. And perfectly prepared. I went with the twice cooked egg and man oh man there's a reason why this menu item is a permanent resident on their otherwise seasonal menu. Great spot, great food, great vibes.

We are eating here with a couple friends. We had a number of small plates we shared. Some things I would have never ordered if I were by myself. I am so glad our friends were with us, as I tried everything. Everything was beyond amazing. I wish I could describe the magical mash of flavors that was in each dish. The head chef is Brian. His mind must be possessed by gods that appreciate magical food as each dish was magical. Two different salads the beef poke, the Seafood Escabeche, the Spring Rolls, Duck Breast, Branzino, lamb, oh and let me tell you about their sour dough bread with this butter that has flavors that mere mortals would not understand. Chef Brian and his whole team have amazing skills. In my country they would build statues in Chef Brian's honor. The lesson is: The magic happens outside the box we live in. I would have never experienced the amazing flavors without venturing into the things I have never tried. Have you ever noticed that as we get older that the years go by faster? There is a scientific reason for this. As we get older, we tend to experience less new things in life. So, if you want to slow your years down, say yes to the things you would normally say no to, take the road less traveled, try the things you would have never tried in the past, go to Chartreuse, let Chef Brian and his entire team, expand your mind and your palate. This was an amazing experience. Kudos to Chef Brian and the entire team here. Ugh! It was sooo good.
