Ummmmmm, geez, how or where do I start. It was 900 degrees below zero in Detroit with windchill & we were looking for a spot to watch the game. Walked in less than an hour before game time. We really started to question whether or not Detroit was even in the playoffs. Except for a few at the bar, no one was there! Our server, Doug, (friend of the owner) assured us they would get the game on....by half-time. If you're a wine snob, this ain't your place. Doug wouldn't even give me a taste of the wine until I drank a stiff whiskey. Even after that????? Holy hell, stick with the whiskey, my loves. On a high note, the lady in the kitchen makes a delicious Greek burger & the fries are legit too,

I suppose this place has its charms, or had. Maybe being post-Lions game was part of the problem. But the service was abrupt, the food was average and made one of our guys ill, and the price was over $100 for four burgers and four beers. Ask for a glass of water, get billed for a bottle! Won't be returning.

Exceptional service and hospitality. The food off the gas grill in the corner was to die for.

We ended up here by accident after a tigers game, and while I think the bartender was making up drink prices the more we sat there. It was laid back and nice. The bartender didn't get annoyed with our loud group or interrupting his two other guests.

Stopped in here for a beer and lunch. I love a good dive, but this place was kinda a s**thole more than a dive. As other reviewers have already written the owner is either unbalanced or just a flat out jerk or probably both, more than one reviewer has pointed out racial remarks the owner/bartender/only guy in the establishment has made, and I 100% believe every word after my experience. The space was interesting, really old building clearly with a history, you walk in and its like a time capsule of the 70's and barren of any customers, and thats cool at first until you see dust floating around in your beer, wires sticking out of the walls, years of junk just lying around and you get your bill for one Miller Highlife and its almost $10.00. Im pretty positive theres a refrigerator or freezer in the back stocked with TV dinners that get microwaved and thats essentially the menu, when i was in there there was no one else working besides the man at the bar, yet somehow food was coming out, not appetizing looking either. When i asked if there was a mistake that I was being charged nearly $10.00 for a 12oz of highlife the owner proceeded to berate me and accuse me of being a "dead-beat" for merely asking, it kind of solidified what others have said. If you go you will see that its a dingy, junk filled, dirty, barely lit bar that at one time was probably a beautiful establishment, but theres a reason this place looks like a s**thole and there's a reason its empty, if you are looking for a good Detroit dive there's soooo many other places that you can have that experience at Marshall's, The Old Miami, Bronx Bar, Temple Bar, literally any where else. To sum it Nicks Gaslight is a depressing, putrid, and more than anything hostile feeling establishment that charges Townhouse prices for less than coney island quality fare. As far as I can tell the owner would rather not ever have interact with another human being or have anyone ever come into the establishment in the first place, and it really shows, so I say leave him to it and don't waste your time or money on such an unpleasant experience.

If you're black don't come here ! This place is racist !!! I was in the area and decided to stop here for a bite . I've never seen this spot , so decided to stop in . I got inside, it was completely empty , with just a few people at the bar. I went straight to the bar and asked for a menu, I decided to use the rest room before I ordered. I came out went to the bar checked out the menu. The menu was trash with nothing that I wanted to eat. I'm a Pescatarian of 15 yrs and all that's was on there was a cod sandwich. I told the old man behind the bar that I was ok , I didn't see any seafood . He said well give me $5! I said excuse me ? He said for the restroom. I laughed as I was walking away, because he couldn't have been serious, then he told me to get out of here N*gger !!! I see why the business is empty and it needs to be shut down ! Also when I went outside I seen the $5 to use the restroom sign. I was a customer, how dare that weirdo treat people that way because the business isn't making any money lol and I see why . The menu was trash , the inside looks old outdated and there was no wait staff . He was clearly the only low life workin in there behind the bar and Cooking the food !

I was with three other people and decided to stop in here after leaving a Tiger's game. Immediately the one and only man working (I'm guessing he was the owner) was super rude and made it seem as if us asking questions was a giant inconvenience to his existence. Whatever, maybe he was having a bad day because his restaurant was completely empty, or maybe that's just how he is. No clue. Two other couples came in while we were there and the owner was also rude to them so it wasn't a personal thing I guess. Mich Ultras were cheap and the cheesesticks weren't bad after a long day in the sun. The door had a sign saying it's $5 to use the restroom if you aren't a paying customer. I won't be returning here.

In the early 70's this was a fine dining experience... many dishes prepared right at the table... Caesar salad... Steak Diane...was delicious. Was all way's fun to get dressed up and go to the city. Sorry to hear it's gone down. Still great memories ☺️

The first thing I noticed before walking in was that there was a $5 charge to use the restroom. One guy seated us and said no words the entire time we were there. Not even a hi or head nod. I got the Greek burger. Had one olive in the middle of the burger and the cheese was mozzarella batear of feta. The patty was dry and had a weird taste. May have been old…. Te food came out extremely fast as though it was already made… I am visiting from LA. I would never would come here again.
