I've only come for the chicken sandwich thus far, but it is by far the absolute best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life. It's leagues beyond anything I've even dreamed of. I've also had the tomato saffron tomato dip and harissa potatoes. They were both amazing. The ambiance is oddly cozy for being a little on the cold side. The service is good, but a bit less formal than expected for the quality of the food. I can't wait to try everything on the menu!

Excellent food. The chicken sandwich had great flavor and was huge. It fed both my wife and myself. The red sauce dip was our favorite. We got with the bread, but might try the pita next.We got as a carry out for reference.

The chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've had, the best dish I've had in Detroit in three years of living here, and one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. It's that good.I give the service a 3/5 and the atmosphere a 2/5 because the employee who helped me wasn't very friendly. I got a bad vibe from her. Perhaps she was having a bad day or she just wasn't all that thrilled to be working, I have no idea. With such awesome food, hopefully the ownership is aware that they have employees who could probably stand to be more friendly. The food is so good that I'd gladly come back here, but I'd probably order online so that I can minimize contact with the staff.Parking: The parking lot is pretty rough and could use a good repaving.

Was not expecting Chef Omar to greet us as we walked in. Then he took us through the menu and explained every dish on the menu and helped order for us, which I’m glad he did cause everything was wonderful. My favorites were the loaded hummus, loubia (bean) dip, and of course the chicken sandwich. Ohh the dessert was also incredible having an assortment of different flavors. While we waited for our food Chef Omar also chatted with us and it was a pleasure.

Brought my parents in from Ohio to taste all of my favorite restaurants, so of course, saffron de twah made the list. We were so lucky to have the opportunity to taste the dishes that Chef Omar created on Chopped and got a nice tutorial on pouring Moroccan tea. Always great service, cozy setting, and fantastic food! ❤️

Was really looking forward to experiencing Saffron, Unfortunately the service did not match the food. The experience was overshadowed by having our order forgotten about, after placing it and being promptly seated.“Sorry, forgot to put your order in” was the only apology we got after 48minutes of wondering. Then waited another 18min for the order to be brought out.The Moroccan Chicken sandwich and slaw was as described - delightful at each bite.Disappointed in the lack of customer service, especially for an up and coming establishment getting more recent press.Worth noting for those wanting a better experience: Parking gets packed and the lot is small. We drove around the block and parked on the street next to it.Parking: When it’s busy parking looks to be a bit of pain.

OMG- run to this restaurant now!! We went for lunch and were waited on by the owner, Chef Omar!! He explained the menu and seated us at his favorite table. We had 3 appetizers- harissa potatoes, loubia dip and zalouk. All were delicious, and plenty to share. We also had the lamb tagine and the Moroccan chicken sandwich, and WOW were they fantastic. Probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Very plentiful servings. I can't wait to go back!!!

Had heard about this restaurant's buzz from a friend and was excited to stop in!Food was excellent and well-portioned. The chicken sandwich and the harissa potatoes were a highlight of the meal. I think the prices are very fair with the amount and quality of food you receive. The service could use some improvement. You place your order at the counter and are then seated afterwards. It was difficult to hear what the employee was saying inside (quiet voice/loud music) and I think some of our order may have gotten missed. Some of our party didn't receive their food until 25-30 minutes after the other entrees were first brought out, and we had all ordered at the same time. This was after waiting probably 45 minutes for our first entrees to arrive. We weren't given an explanation or apology - I think a "hey sorry, kitchen is backed up, it'll be another 25-30 minutes" would've at least helped. There's another recent review with the same criticism (I'm not affiliated with/know them). It would've really screwed with our plans had we had somewhere else to be.There was only one employee working the front counter, so I can empathize with that and wonder if the problem would've been worked out with an additional employee. There were probably 5 to 6 seated tables. Was looking forward to trying the tea and/or kombucha, and they were out of both.

The food here is amazing. We had a tomato and goat cheese dip as a starter which was light and delicious. The main portions are very generous, and the meat so very tender. Service was excellent, Chef Onani took our order directly. I really enjoyed the orange blossom lemonade as well. Don't know what took us so long to try it, but we'll be back!!

So, let's start with the great: the food. Man, it was a good meal. I got the fish sandwich and I'd get it 10 more times this week it was so good.On the 'interesting' and maybe could be better but not bad is the way they've got the restaurant set up. You order at a desk inside and they bring the food to your table. There's only a couple tables inside and they're set as if for fine dining but next to crates of old pop bottles and back room stuff that creates a bit of a strange disconnect. The outside area is similarly a bit confusing. There's a lot of traffic noise and there's trash and water stations that seem very 'mess hall' in their feel but the tables and decorations say 'fine dining'.The downside came from the knowledge of the staff. We asked a question about something from the menu and the order person had to go ask the chef. (it was a pretty basic question) I then asked if she had any sugar free / diabetic friendly drinks besides water available and she told me that the case of imported drinks were all sugar free flavored sparkling water. Despite being in another language, I was able to see the first ingredient was sugar. I'm glad I checked!I can definitely see why the chef is a James Beard finalist, and the restaurant is good, but I feel like it can be just a bit better once they work out these little issues.

An actual hidden gem that I’m astonished and overjoyed to have found nearby to where I live, but even if it were a longer trip I’d make the effort. The Moroccan sandwiches are award-winning apparently—my taste buds certainly celebrate them!—but my personal heaven is the cardamom cold brew latte that they brew with the finest grind of cardamom with the coffee grounds to make a drink that’s subtle and superior. I hope it somehow stays hidden while also getting plenty of business so it doesn’t disappear like the mirage this oasis feels like it must be…too good to be true ?
