As a Detroiter, I do love tacos. I really hoped that would be true after trying this new addition to Detroit's Northend neighborhood. I just happened to stop by for their soft-opening. I was warmly greeted, as I looked at their limited menu. They offered tacos a la carte, for $2 and dinners that included rice and beans for $8. The selections included chicken, triple pork (which is chorizo bacon and thinly sliced pork with chipotle sauce) and carnitas( that contains a 10-hour slow roasted pork). The choices for toppings were onions, cilantro, salsa, lettuce and tomato. For an additional charge, you can add sour cream or cheese. I decided to try the triple pork and carnitas. I was also able to try the rice and beans. So, did this Detroiter love Detroit Love Tacos? Yes! I do have to say that I preferred the carnitas over the triple pork. The triple pork has a little sweetness to it that's not really my thing , but that's a personal preference. The beans were creamy. I'm not a big rice eater, but my daughter said it was okay. All in all, the service was friendly and professional. The food was fresh and tasty. I can't wait to see what they have when they finish building out their kitchen and expand their menu. I was assured that quesadillas are on the way. Street parking is available and the building is accessible. I happily welcome Detroit Loves Tacos to the neighborhood!

I was here for a trunk show for a local artist (Laura Jean Hatcher) and scored a great piece of wearable art. The shop is quite lovely, great hats and a great vibe in the neighborhood. I enjoyed meeting and chatting with Stef and Ty - it's nice to meet new people who enjoy the city and are great promoters of the other artists in the City! Hat's off to you both.
