The food and service were top tier! I ordered the short rib and my fiancé ordered the branzino. Both dishes were immaculate. The drinks were so good, well balanced and left us with a buzz! lol Our server was funny, welcoming, and attentive. They comped our valet so we didn’t have to struggle to find parking like most restaurants downtown. Our reservations were for 6pm on a Sunday and we were nearly the only ones in the restaurant. No clue why this place isn’t packed every night. It truly is a gem!

Restaurant Review: A Remarkable Dining Experiencemy family had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant that left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance. The menu boasted a myriad of mouthwatering options, making it difficult to choose. I savored the creamy hummus, which had a delightful hint of garlic and was accompanied by fresh pita bread.Moving on to the main course, I opted for the Mediterranean bronzino fish and lobster. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, with the fish boasting a wonderfully crispy skin and tender, flaky flesh. The lobster, on the other hand, was succulent and melted in my mouth. The chef's expertise truly shined through in these impeccable seafood creations. As for the appetizers, the calamari was another highlight of the evening. It was expertly prepared, with a light and crispy coating that complemented the tender calamari rings. Each bite was bursting with flavor, creating a memorable experience for my taste buds.To accompany my meal, I explored their extensive cocktail and whiskey selection. The bartenders exhibited impressive skill in crafting unique and inventive cocktails that perfectly balanced flavors. Whether it was a classic Old Fashioned or an innovative mixology creation, each sip was a delightful celebration of my senses.Additionally, the restaurant provided valet parking, which was a thoughtful touch. Having the convenience of complimentary valet parking ensured that my dining experience was seamless from start to finish. In summary, my evening at this restaurant surpassed my expectations in every way. From the exceptional cuisine, including the bronzino fish, lobster, Greek salad, hummus, and calamari, to the delightful cocktails and whiskey, and the added convenience of valet parking, every detail was carefully considered to provide a remarkable dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone in search of a memorable culinary adventure.

While the ambiance of Symposia nestled within the Atheneum Hotel exudes charm and aesthetic appeal, my recent birthday dinner experience there was marred by disappointing service. Regrettably, the wait staff fell short of expectations, displaying a lack of professionalism that overshadowed the evening. Our assigned waiter seemed woefully ill-suited for his role, exhibiting impatience and a notable lack of social grace. His attempts at engaging with my guests crossed the line into discomfort, as he intruded on our conversations and invaded personal space with his constant leaning over the table. Moreover, the repeated lapses in order accuracy, requiring multiple reminders, only compounded our frustration. My chosen dish, the lobster bucatini, arrived with a stark temperature disparity and overcooked lobster, a disappointing culinary letdown. The climax of the evening occurred during payment, when the waiter mishandled my card multiple times, triggering a security alert from my bank. His subsequent accusatory tone, insinuating potential legal ramifications, left a sour taste in my mouth and further soured an already unpleasant experience. In sum, the combination of unprofessional behavior and culinary missteps leaves me with no desire to revisit Symposia. It's unfortunate to conclude that the waiter's conduct appeared to be influenced by intoxication, tarnishing what should have been a celebratory occasion.

We had a 5 PM reservation on a week night and the entire restaurant to ourselves until after 6:30. The hostess greeted us in the hotel lobby and escorted us to our booth seating. Our server / sommelier was attentive, knowledgeable and just the right amount of conversational. The appetizer (beet salad), scallops & branzino, side dish & dessert were all fantastic.

This was our second time at Symposia and the food has been wonderful each time. They also offer a shuttle to entertainment venues downtown which is certainly an added plus. We will definitely return!!Vegetarian options: Salads and sides.

The food is wonderful and the space is perfect! Service was excellent from the time we walked into the restaurant. They also have a shuttle to take you to and from an event in the downtown area.

Everything about our experience was what wonderful . Our server was superb web. H went above and beyond and arranged to get us to the Detroit Opera house. Only thing is I wish that the actual meal had a little more on the side dish. We could have ordered another side plate as an option. My rib eye steak was so perfectly cooked that I just enjoyed that the most.

I had a wonderful experience. Everyone was exceptionally nice! However, I have never been to a 5 star restaurant that don't offer a dessert when you dine in for your birthday.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Symposia, the restaurant located within the hotel in Detroit, Michigan. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of refinement, ambience, and intimacy. The delightful older gentleman who greeted us at the door and escorted us to our table set the tone for the evening, and our waiter, Michael, provided impeccable service throughout the meal. Despite being a party of eight, the restaurant managed to create an intimate dining experience for us on my birthday, for which I am truly grateful. We had the opportunity to sample a variety of dishes from the menu, including calamari, Spanish octopus, tenderloin vol au vent, Scottish salmon, prime fillet, prime New York strip, and Australian lamb chops, along with sides of garlic Yukon mashed potatoes and shaved Brussels sprouts. Every dish was absolutely delicious and executed to perfection. The fact that the food still tasted incredible when enjoyed in the middle of the night speaks volumes about its quality. While Symposia is an intimate spot ideal for parties of 2 to 4, they do have a table available for larger parties of up to eight. Additionally, the restaurant offers valet parking paid for by the establishment, adding to the overall convenience of the dining experience. Overall, Symposia exceeded my expectations in every aspect, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a five-star dining experience.

If I can rate higher I would. The apps are amazing, the dinner was phenomenal. From the Bronzino and rib eye steak. The mocktails are the best I have ever had. To finish everything the vanilla gelato and chocolate hazelnut cake was a 11/10. Will be back here again for

Had a really good dinner here! The hostess was super kind and welcoming as soon as we arrived. Easy & complimentary parking via valet which is a nice perk. My boyfriend and I shared the calamari (which was so so good and not too fried!) and roasted beet to start with and then also ordered the carrots and whole branzino , meal was really good and food tasted fresh! highly recommend.
