Staff lost my wife’s debit card and were unapologetic about it.

Ever since I moved away from this location I've been so sad! EL Maru is top notch- always consistent, delicious, and great service!

Lunch was hibachi tofu. Never going back. Extremely small portions except for the white rice, which I don't eat, and everything was very greasy. My dish was not described as fried and it was and I hated it. They offered extra vegetables to make up for it but they were mostly onions. So disappointing and way too expensive. They used to be great. Not sure what happened. Not worth half the price.

Gone are the days of Okemos Maru. My wife and I finally got to stop in for Sushi at Maru after the closure of the Okemos business. Sadly, it was a letdown. The specialty rolls are skimpy and more expensive. The days of the great smoky salmon are over. For the first time ever I left Maru feeling hungry.

Now is this a 5 out of 5 compared to a big city famous sushi place? No. Is it way off the charts for land-locked East Lansing, Michigan? Absolutely. No questions asked best sushi in East Lansing.

First time and probably last time here. It's not like it was bad, per se, but it wasn't worth the premium price. Service was decent, and it server was friendly, but again, nothing special or memorable. I'll take my $150 (for 2 nonetheless) somewhere else next time....

The food was fine. Not the best I've ever had but okay. I do think $30.00 for 7 pieces of shrimp, some rice, and a salad is a bit much.

I went to eat by myself as I was staying overnight for work. I walked in and was greeted by the host. I was able to be seated immediately at the bar. The restaurant had a very nice ambiance and I don't think it would have mattered where I sat as the wait staff seemed to be very attentive to everyone. I ordered miso soup which came out fairly quickly. I then ordered a sushi roll. Both were wonderful! I would definitely return as it was great food and service!

I have eaten here dozens of times over the years. Unfortunately, the last few experiences here were so bad I won’t be eating here again.Service is terrible. It seems like there are no adults in charge of this place. The last three times I’ve waited at least ten minutes just to get someone to take a drink order.Last night we waited 10 minutes and a server came over and said “ has anyone taken your drink order? No? Let me see who your server is.” We waited another 5 minutes and left. The whole time, multiple servers walked by us and a few of them sat at the bar and looked at their phones. The restaurant was also noticeably unkempt. There multiple tables covered in dirty dishes and glassware and the floor looked like they hadn’t dragged a mop through in weeks. The last few times I have had enough patience to let them serve me food, it just was not as good as it used to be and the prices have gone up.I used to love this place but it has gone seriously down hill. There are better options in the area.

We have been going on a regular basis since the summer and wow has it really went downhill since the fall. First we thought it was the orange tobiko that they changed but now clearly it’s the ingredients. Same rolls just not at all as good. Even the remodel wasn’t an improvement. Sucks because it was the best sushi I’d ever had but now it’s way too expensive for the quality.

I had a great experience. The Firecracker Shrimp appetizer was my favorite thing off the menu that I tried. I wish there was a larger selection of sushi and entrées. The food was a bit overpriced to me but made sense as everything was very well presented and plated.
