We had their BBQ last night and it was amazing! My dad said the Mac and cheese was some of the best he’s ever had. The corn bread and sides were great and the pulled pork and brisket were amazing as well.

I’ve been coming to Vic’s for a little over a year (not including the period of time that the state was shutdown) bringing my friends, girlfriend, or meeting family here. The food is always good, and the drinks are priced extremely well too.Unfortunately, despite the convenience of having a bar a mile down the road from my house, I can no longer be served here because my valid, non-expired Michigan drivers license is vertical. I don’t have to renew my license until the end of this year since it’s an enhanced license I applied for when I was 19 and it doesn’t expire for 4 years.I wouldn’t leave a review about being denied service based on the fact that I don’t have a horizontal license if it weren’t for the fact I’ve been served here numerous times before without an issue - and I was served several times before by the same bartender who said that she couldn’t accept my ID because of the risk of it being fake. Further annoyance comes from the leniency other customers have gotten in regards to the mask mandate when businesses were allowed to open again - specifically the night that two customers both came in without a mask and were told (after they sat down at the bar, next to me), that they were required to wear a mask otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to have service provided to them.Which was then immediately back pedaled when I walked out to my car, grabbed an extra set of masks, and walked back in to the (still unmasked customers - who were great by the way, bought me a drink for helping them out) and gave them face masks that they could set down on the bar so that they could be served - and they were.Checking the MLCC regulations that were put out in March of this year, chapter seven specifically addressed diligent inquiry (the same as it did over a year ago, when I first turned 21 and wanted to make sure Michigan wasn’t a state that outright banned the sale of alcohol to anyone with a vertical ID regardless of expiry status, which it isn’t) and the non-liability that businesses would have in some sort of hypothetical situation where someone comes in with a fake ID (or passport, military ID, or accepted photo ID) that’s so convincing that it looks identical to an actual ID - and also scans just like a real one, with matching info. If we’re talking about Michigan liquor laws and regulations, then in my situation the business also has a responsibility (again, from the MLCC (2021)) to file a police report if they suspect that someone under 21 has used or attempted to use fraudulent/forged identification to purchase alcohol, and to provide the forged piece of identification to law enforcement while filing the report in the instance that it was seized by the establishment.Wouldn’t have left a review about anything if there wasn’t leniency involved in the mask mandate when bars and restaurants were allowed to open again, and if I hadn’t been served here multiple times before without an issue. Unfortunately for me, businesses do have a right to refuse service to anyone if they choose to, and they don’t have to accept my ID. On the fortunate side of things, I’ll be exercising my right to take my business to every other bar, restaurant, grocery store, and liquor store I’ve been to that has never had a problem with my use of a valid, vertical enhanced license, and I’ll continue to do so once I’ve renewed my ID at the end of the year and get my hands on one of these extra special horizontal IDs that you need in order to be served here. If you’re going to be lawful and follow regulations, at least be consistent.

This would be a great place. The staff is great. The food is good and a decent selection of beers on tap. Here is the problem... the bartender gives this one Ding Dong at the bar the remote to the music and he cranks it so loud that you cannot talk to the person next to you. This probably isn't a problem at night but at 6pm when most of the clientele is over 60 and trying to eat dinner this doesn't go over too well.
