A convenient and quick spot for a bite to eat or coffee, Barista Bakery is located in the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Services GVSU building on Michigan Street. I'd noticed this counter service spot from the outside one day, and had a bit of time to grab a breakfast bagel sandwich before one of my cases recently. The bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich came on my choice of bagel and I'm sure you can add cream cheese. It was a bargain at just over $6, but it wasn't anything super special. It reminded me a lot of the bagel sandwiches you get at the airport. The bagel was soft and fresh, and the cheese was nice and melty. Plus, it only took about 3 minutes for it to be ready, which is great if you're in between classes or on a quick break. They also serve lunch sandwiches, salads, and have some grab and go options available. Their coffee is pretty cheap and you can get 50 cent same-day drip coffee refills with proof of your receipt.If I wasn't in the building for work, I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but it was convenient and fast for when I needed it.
