Incredible Indian food. The brewery isn't at the level it used to be from a quality and innovation standpoint. But we keep coming back for the food. Great location as well.

Great indian food. Good quality and quantity. Rogan Josh is a must try. Variety of vegetarian dishes available.

This is an update from a previous 5 star review from 2012. This place used to be good years ago, but has sadly gone downhill. The food is still pretty decent, but the service is horrendous. I do feel bad as they were obviously understaffed, but for high prices like they charge, they need to make it worth it to the consumer. To add insult to injury, we were charged an 'upcharge' on our bill without explanation. When we asked the waiter about this mysterious charge he said it was due to food costs being higher. Why was this not communicated with us beforehand? It was not even mentioned on our menu. The waiter brought a menu from a neighboring table that had a temporary sticker on the back with the upcharge listed, but ours did not. He did apologize, but did not offer to remove the charge. The service was also in general horrible. We were given the wrong food and waited the whole meal to get our waters refilled. Unfortunately, we will not be able to recommend this place any longer.

I used to love this place. However, it seems to be going downhill. The food was just okay this time, nothing to write home about. Then when I went to eat my naan I found a hair baked in. We called to let them know and they told me they didn’t believe me but I could get a free order of Naan if we wanted next time we come in. Eventually they said they would mail a gift card for an unspecified amount.Beware of their prices. Even though the menu claims one price, they add “up charges” for meat. This is not stated anywhere on the menu. Seems very shady that Buttered Chicken gets an up charge for having Chicken even though Chicken is in the name.Very sad, this used to be my favorite Indian food in town, I guess I will have to go searching for a new favorite. I’m open to any suggestions!

Food is great, as always. We are so glad to be back after a few years. The service was disappointing. Waitress was very nice but we had to wait for our check and then to pay for a half hour. She seemed to disappear. Seems that they need more staff in the kitchen.

This is the first and best Indian food I've had. It inspired me to try other Indian cuisine and nothing has stacked up to Bombay. Here's the thing though - I get the same thing every time and I've changed lots of folks minds by getting it. The chicken pasanda is out of this world. I get peoples reservations about the prices but this meal is next level.

I've always had mixed feelings about Bombay Cuisine. Bombay has some great reviews, and their food is good, but as someone who has traveled around and eaten a lot of spicy food, it does feel like Bombay caters to individuals with a midwest palette. If you are a spice champion and ask for spice, expect the food to be mild, at most. If you dislike spice, and are looking to venture into Indian food, this is a great place to start. I'm curious as to what region in India the owners are from because the dishes are different than what one would expect. I taste a lot of ginger and sweetness and not too much spice or tanginess in their dishes. Although there are Indian restaurants in Grand Rapids that I would say might be better, Bombay Cuisine holds a space in my heart. Growing up in Grand Rapids, there was never any accessible south Asian food - the food at Bombay was one of my first experiences with Indian food, which is now my favorite cuisine. As someone who has gotten older, traveled quite a bit and eaten quite a lot of Indian food, Bombay still holds a space in my heart because it feels like home in a way. I also think it's super cool that they have merged with East West brewing - you don't have many chances to grab a craft beer and eat Indian food in the same sitting, so I love it!

Went with a group of four people and two of whom had never eaten Indian food! The waitress Alyssa was wonderful and made amazing suggestions to us. We loved the food, environment, and the brews ! Was not too crowded on a Sunday evening and the perfect time to go ! :)

Used to go here a lot when I lived in GR. It was my wife’s birthday and I ordered online for pickup at the restaurant. I wanted to heat it up the next day for her birthday dinner. I was missing an entree and the chutney. I called and they couldn’t refund me as they said I needed to contact door dash. I filled out the “problem with your order” link at the bottom of my confirmation email and never heard anything. My wife ate one of the entrees and I ate the other and she ended up with a very bad case of food poisoning. Basically the opposite of what I was intending for her birthday dinner. I had to throw out all of the leftovers. The following week I stopped into Bombay Cuisine to tell them about the food poisoning and to see if I could get a refund for my missing items. They said that it wasn’t possible that she got food poisoning from their food and that I couldn’t get a refund for my missing items. Not even offering to just take cash out of the register to make it right. They essentially told me that they didn’t have my money and door dash did. Unfortunately they’ve lost me as a customer.

Our party of three were disappointed in every way, except for our server, who was pleasant and attentive. Several tables were dirty and not cleaned the whole time we were there. The appetizer sampler consisted of 3 onion bhajia, 3 vegetable pakora and one large samosa. The bhajia and pakora were doughy. Someone else described them as hush puppies, which is apt. The samosa had a bland vegetable filling and a fried crust more like a pastry crust. The tamarind and coriander chutneys were watery and not at all spicy. My saag paneer was very thick with few cubes of paneer. The Korma Kasmiri and Murg Nariyali were both flavorless. After the meal, we were informed we could have asked for more spice, which was definitely needed. The garlic naan was pretty good. Overall, we wished we had gone anywhere else and can't understand the good reviews.

Wow. I went here about 2 months ago and have been obsessed since. The appetizers are so good, and the bread is amazing. Best Indian food I ever had. The staff is very nice too. Please go here.

For Indian cuisine, this might be one of my favorites in Kent County! I had a friend who highly recommended this establishment since her family originally came from India. The atmosphere inside was very pleasant, but I ordered takeout and did not stay. For takeout food, everything was delicious!!!

We ordered food from here for our wedding and the food was very delicious and we were pleased with the quantity as well. The owner Bal is a gentleman and he gave us a great service. I highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to go to this place when I visit Grand Rapids again.

Would you expect to have your choice of table if you were the only people in the restaurant?... We left after being denied our choice of table. Seriously? You can't make an exception for your only patrons? Sad. We used to like this place, but there are many other Indian food places out there if you are craving. Try Pind on Fulton for a more friendly staff.
