The food was delicious and the wait staff were so friendly. But the event manager/planner was so uncoordinated. During cocktail hour, me as the bride and my husband were waiting for our entrance and the event manager decided we were the people to tell that our food was running behind and that we weren't going to have it for another 30 minutes instead of telling our parents who they have met. As well any meetings that we scheduled with her, She never got the time right and when we did a rehearsal we told her what time we'd be there and she left before we even started our rehearsal because she thought we had said an hour earlier than the time that we had given her and I had told her in multiple conversations over the phone as well as in text and email. On top of it all she was extremely rude to my family and tried up, charging us and mixed a lot of the payments between my family and my in-laws and overcharged. My family almost $5,000 and about the same for my in-laws because her books were so messed up. When my dad went to talk to her about it she made up a bunch of excuses and then started crying over the phone trying to guilt my dad into paying the extra money that we didn't have to pay cuz we paid everything up front. I honestly don't even remember her name because I just got this leave a review thing almost a year after my wedding so I could not tell you what her name was.

We were initially a little worried about how challenging it might be to cater our wedding: we held the events almost entirely outdoors, spread across two private properties (one for cocktail hour with passed appetizers, one for reception with plated dinner), neither with a very big kitchen. We were so glad that we went with a company like Gilmore that not only served delicious food on the big day (the steak especially got rave reviews), but also made the process so low-stress by how well they stayed on top of everything leading up to it. They were incredibly responsive throughout, and they were crystal clear about what they needed from us to be successful with rental equipment, space at the properties, access to water, you name it. They were accommodating when it was possible, and honest about their limitations when it wasn’t. Can’t say enough about the hard work and professionalism of Angela, Ondi, Gordie and their team!

The venue is gorgeous, conveniently located close to hotels and downtown Grand Rapids, and the food (by Gilmore Catering) was outstanding. Had them cater my son’s wedding. They can’t cook a steak correctly to save their lives. Their staff took the plates away from everyone before they were even finished eating…my son and his wife didn’t even get a chance to eat their meals. We also received many complaints from our guests. (Over and under cooked steak, chicken covered in vinegar leaving a bad aftertaste, bad service, etc.) I’m not one to normally leave a bad review but I would highly recommend people AVOID GILMORES. Use another service and you’ll be much, much happier

Gilmore has great food but terrible communication - you will never get someone on the phone – even when you call multiple times in the middle of their office hours as stated in the answering machine message. They didn’t call back on any of our voicemails, and the number on your order form is just for the office so you don’t get anyone’s personal number for questions (you get your day-of managers number about 2 days before your event). Emailing is not much better as it once took Lori 10 days to respond to an email with multiple follow up messages just 3 weeks before our wedding – email contained questions that I needed answered for my coordinator and the venue. I also had to dispute (unsuccessfully, as I never got someone on the phone) multiple price changes that they tried to tell us were always there or reason why they should’ve been charged from the beginning and there is no document history to track changes made – there was an attempt to charge my card while we were still discussing the final price that they’ve ignored when I questioned them about.All of this is really unfortunate because we got so many compliments on the food and bar service but I cannot recommend Gilmore because of their terrible customer service and the stress it caused leading up to and after our wedding. I’m only grateful that none of our guests had any issues.
