Cozy atmosphere, great drinks. Hostess went out of her way to fit us in and bartenders did a great job. Drinks were not made, they were crafted.

Best place for cocktails, they have such a wide variety of liquor options, they can make anything you desire. Food is 10/10. The ambiance gave a speakeasy meets “cool” vibe aesthetic. Will be bringing every person visiting holland here.

Not bad, not great. Had two drinks on my visit. The first one was good the second one was ok. Both drinks looks very nice but I have had much better tasting drinks elsewhere are a much less cozy.

Every drink is an exeptional experience ! Bartenders were professional, knowledgeable and really put a lot of love into each drink. The food is amazing as well. Highly recommend for a very special drink experience.

I love the atmosphere of Obstacle. It is worth going and enjoying. The way they prepare their cocktails, and showcase it at your table is a worthwhile experience. I also enjoy that they have a small menu with delicious items. Two downsides from my perspective from my last visit was: 1) The lighting is so low you can't read your menu well, and 2) The cocktails we had just didn't seem to have the right balance. It's not that they were bad, but we both noticed something was off in terms of balancing the flavors (That's definitely not been something I thought in the past, but this time, both my wife and I felt that way.)

Our bartender went above and beyond to take care of us, the food was perfection and small portions, and he made a custom drink for me which was to die for. Phenomenal, and worth going out of your way to stop in. We’ll be back!

Fun experience but we have had as good and better drinks at other local breweries and restaurants. The bar tenders are great and the atmosphere is nice.

Always impeccable drinks and service. Prices have gone up since they opened, as with any place. Loved the Hinokami Kagura seasonal drink and my husband was pleasantly surprised when his Whiskey Sour got accidentally upgraded to a NY sour- he loved it!

My wife and I were enjoying the experience until the host came to remind us that our reservation time was about to expire. This would normally be fine as we were about to conclude our visit anyway. However, the server had not yet issued our check. It just seemed odd and really bad form that the host and server didn't seem to be in sync this night. You'd think for an establishment that aspires to be upscale, they would be sensitive to these practices. It really kind of ruined the whole activity for us. Had this not occurred, the fact the the room temperature was uncomfortably cool for patrons (probably fine for the staff who were moving about) and that the sound system leaves much to be desired (boxy, trebley, unkind to the ears - you really need a Sonos system) would not have otherwise warranted any mention.

Great evening at Obstacle. I had some business clients that I was entertaining and Obstacle was fantastic as always. Victor does a great job at making drinks and serving with a flair. Love this place!

Delightful, as always, with the exception that Poquito was “out” of so many dishes whe we were there. And it wasn't at the. End of the evening as our reservation was at 6:30. Not great on a Friday night during the busy Holiday season.

A simple skewer took 45 minutes to get to the table, by that time we were given 10 minutes to slam our expensive cocktails and eat (our first course), because we were told we had to leave as the next reservation was there.

Obstacle was our destination of choice to celebrate a special birthday. We called for reservations over a week ahead, but still had to settle for a 4:30 opening for our party of four. As it was our first visit, we previewed the menus online and read Yelp reviews, and decided ahead of time which plates to share. Obstacle is small and windowless, giving it a sultry speakeasy vibe. The low lighting could be a challenge for some, but we thought it added to the cozy atmosphere. We sat in a curved banquette, and its lush velvet upholstery felt like a warm embrace; I have never enjoyed restaurant seating more. The bartenders were attentive and informative, and assisted the waitstaff in all aspects, and that made for seamless service. The craft cocktails were pricy but exceptional, and befitting a special occasion. Unfortunately, out of the eight dishes we wanted to order, four were “out.” How can a restaurant with such a small menu be out of four items at 4:30pm on a Saturday? (Unavailable were the dates, crab and scallop dishes as well as the bread pudding, which btw, is one of only two desserts they offer! And, when we made substitutions, we were told that only ONE ceviche was still available!) The hits were the warm goat cheese dip, the Brussels sprouts and the braised short rib. The misses, other than not being able to order what we wanted, were two of our three substitutions: the chicken taquitos and chicken empanadas, as both were nothing special and tasted like doctored Costco frozen appetizers. I might expect to make substitutions at 9:pm, but I feel that they really dropped the ball, and not being able to fulfill our orders detracted from what could have otherwise been an A+ experience. We were dressed in finery befitting our celebration and Obstacle’s vibe, but some patrons sitting at the bar were wearing resort wear, so anything goes here. A host/hostess sets the tone when you enter an establishment, and unfortunately our hostess was neither warm nor welcoming. As it was so early and there were no crowds or anyone waiting to be seated, her lack of attention was particularly egregious. As the front of the house, we felt she was underdressed, as it was difficult to tell her apart from the casual diners in tees and shorts. A basic button-down black shirt would present the restaurant in a better light as her appearance was incongruent to the posh atmosphere. The bartenders looked cool-chic and and matched the esthetic perfectly. Will we be back? I’m not certain. The comfy banquette, unique cocktails and scrumptious warm goat cheese dip beckon to me, but what I really want is the scallops, crab cakes and bread pudding, and I don’t know if I want to risk being disappointed again. What could have been A+ turned into a C+ experience. We walked down the street to the yogurt joint for dessert, but wished we could have ended the night at Osbtacle. Hmmm… the real obstacle seems to be the menu and dish availability, but with a little tweaking that obstacle could be overcome.
