LOVE the Drinks. But the vegetarian food portion for the price they charge is very disappointing. I wish they would improve that part.

We went to Principle after a class at combat ready art! It was late but staff was wonderful, the drinks were delish and we just had some apps but they were great! Can't wait to go back and try some of the entrees! The vibes are also fabulous. Def get the biscuits!!

Feeling fancy? Head to Principle, where you will find exciting food, fancy cocktails, and amazing service! The duck wings were absolutely amazing! We parked in the parking ramp, several yards away, and were excited to find it one of the Free 90 minute parking.

We came in late (15 minutes prior to kitchen closing) and were starving. We apologized for the time and ordered quickly and they didn't seem bothered. We got the meatballs (meh), the scallops (delicious) and the ravioli (insanely incredible) The meatballs may have been "meh" in comparison because everything else was SO GOOD. Ambiance was great, dark & romantic.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Kzoo! The ambiance was fantastic, drinks are super delicious and the food was phenomenal!

Highly recommend. Every dish was fantastic. Salads, scallops...all great! The dessert was fabulous. Our server Kate was tremendous. There is one four top in the basement among casual seating on couches. Really cool and interesting. Great place.

Food was great. I didn’t enjoy the seating right by the door. Anytime it opened up, it was so unpleasant because of how cold it was. I had to wear my coat throughout dinner and was still quite chilled.

Wonderful atmosphere, cool, simple, beautiful and chill all in one. Loved the original wood floors and brick inside. Staff was friendly and helpful without being pushy. Food and drinks speak for themselves in the photos! Will be back someday soon!

This is one of my favorite spots to go in Kalamazoo. They have the best cocktails and great food. In particular I recommend the Sargent Pepper's Specter cocktail and the cheddar biscuits appetizer!

First off I would like to say that Principle is and has been our go-to restaurant in Kalamazoo since we moved here 8 years ago. We are always pleased with the unique menus, service and quality of food and drinks. The prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. Last night was a slightly different story. Our server, Alex, was great and attentive to our needs. When the drinks took an excessively long time to be delivered, she not only corrected the order for how my husband prefers his Manhattan, but she also took the charge for the appetizer off our bill without us asking. Kudos to her, and honestly we weren't that worried about it, the bartenders were clearly busy. However, the entree my husband ordered was AWFUL. He got the Butternut Ravioli which was described as served with kale, mushrooms and sage. What came out was ravioli that tasted like pure brown sugar. It was sweeter than many desserts, and I'm not sure how that qualifies as an entree, especially when brown sugar was not mentioned on the menu. It was a big bummer, because it looked delicious, and if it had savory, I'm sure it would have been. The menu either needs to indicate that it is a VERY sweet entree or have brown sugar listed as a first ingredient. Again, Alex took care of it with the bill and also said she would be sure to let other patrons know when they ordered it. My scallops were wonderful. We will be back, but thought it was worth mentioning that this particular menu item does not fit with the rest.

This is one our favorite restaurants in Kalamazoo. "Upscale/Casual" atmosphere, a wonderful seasonal menu, prepared perfectly. Our experience has always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions on current highlights.Principle is also known for its bartenders and cocktails. All the standards plus a rich offering you would/probably could not prepare at home. It's fun to watch them work their magic. Not cheap, but very special, and we have never regretted a visit.Parking: A few times we have been lucky and parked on the street in front or around the, but there is a very reasonable garage just around the corner.

I can't say enough about the service, but I will tell everyone I know that enjoys a well prepared meal to go here. I am going to gush until the end of time about this Berkshire pork chop I just ate! Incredible! Every. Single. Bite. It's huge, and I ate it all and I want seconds, thirds, and if it could be my last meal before I leave this earth please!Edit: I have never come back to update a review in such a way. I cannot express just how good my experience was here. That was literally the best pork chop and possibly the best meal I've ever eaten in my life. I have paid exorbitant amounts of money for a good steak. This place could easily charged $200 for the plate that I had. The buttermilk blue cheese sauce was so subtle and sweet, and the chutney, I'm at a loss for words. If you don't get yourself this plate you will be doing yourself a disservice. My only regret is not taking more pictures because of how quickly I was eating this food. Get yourself a smoke Manhattan it pairs wonderfully with the pork chop.
