Came in on Sat night for dinner around 745pm. We were able to walk in without a reservation. This spot is cute, not large at all. Very modern mexican vibe. Jessica, our Server, was excellent! Friendly and helpful. She guided us thru the menu and helped us modify meals to make everything vegan. We enjoyed non-alcoholic margaritas, chips, salsa Roja, refried black beans, taquitos de papas, and grilled trumpet tacos. Everything was delicious! We'll definitely come back next time we're in K-zoo.Parking: Free for 1st 90 minutes.

Came here for dinner with my fiancé :) We started with the Taquitos de Papas. Those were really good, like way better than I thought! Great texture and even better flavor! For my entree I got the sea bream Frito. Wow, what a presentation! It was my second time eating a whole fish, and the first time one was curled up like that, it was neat! It was delicious, and I thought black beans with it honestly sounded kind of weird at first, but it was a great combination! Then for dessert I got the churro cheesecake. That was really good! It honestly tastes just like you'd expect! And there was an interesting effect, about 10 seconds after each bite your taste buds would experience an explosion of yummy, sweet flavors! The service was great too ?? Emma was our waitress and was very attentive and even packed my fiancé's leftovers for her, that was very nice of her!The interior is cool and modern, I like the ambient lighting that changes color.

Our server was as top shelf as the drinks. Bold, flavorful food and high levels of execution from the moment you walk in until the moment you walk out.

Queso fundido was excellent. A little underwhelmed by the Barbacoa tacos- Nothing to really set them apart from your standard good taqueria tacos. Barbacoa cooked well but not seasoned enough. I am a fan of the homemade tortillas.

The space was inviting and the server was nice, but the experience was overall fairly poor. We got the guac and chips and an order of Escabeche to start and it was all pretty good. The price for the guacamole seemed excessive for what was provided. We were there for Downtown Restaurant Week and I ordered the beef empanada, mahi mahi, and flan for desert as a three course meal while my wife ordered shrimp tacos. We were asked if we would like the empanada, mahi, and tacos to come out together and we agreed to that. Instead the empanada, tacos, and the flan came out together and the mahi some 10 minutes later. I had never been served desert before my entrée before but there's a first time for everything I guess. The empanada was fairly bland, but the cabbage slaw it was served on was very flavorful, if a bit rough in how it was cut. The shrimp tacos were terrible, with a single soggy corn tortilla for each that fell apart and tiny shrimp that has no flavor at all. We are glad not to get too much salt in a restaurant, but the food was very under seasoned. The mahi finally arrived and it was cooked very well and was very succulent. Unfortunately it was served with an avocado puree on top that must have been made from very under ripe avocados as it was quite bitter. The fish was also placed upon what looked and tasted to be canned corn, though when I asked I was informed that they make it in house. It was indistinguishable from canned corn at least. The flan had a house made strawberry compote on top and was an excellent desert that I enjoyed very much after having had to work around it for the rest of the meal.As we were getting ready to leave we heard a pianist doing a sound check and were informed that they have live music from 6-9 pm and it was about to start. Our reservation was for 6 pm and it was now close to 7. That seemed fitting overall. We had been to Roca a couple of times previously and had good experiences but after this I don't expect we will be going back.

We stayed in Kalamazoo and this is the second time that we ate at Roca!We love everything about this place! The atmosphere is modern and hip and so are the delicious cocktails! Our server was amazing and the food was out of this world! It’s so refreshing to go to a place that is putting out delicious Spanish inspired food and not another place that has a Tex mex menu! Can’t wait to be back!Get their version of bbq chicken! Delicious!

Great atmosphere, good service, BUT drinks were not great, some food was inedible.Margarita was “eh”, octopus was amazing, seafood stew was heavy and gross with poor flavor compliments. Tacos were also “eh”. Refried beans were absolutely gross. Only thing worth the price was the octopus, which admittedly was some of the best I have ever had in the US.

We stopped in as a party of 3, half an hour before a show at the State Theatre. The host was super welcoming, and offered us a seat on the communal table within 14 seconds. Our server greeted us immediately, and our delicious Palomas arrived before I could finish reading the menu. We ordered the sweet potato taquitos, chili lime shrimp tacos, and chips and guacamole. Our server made sure to guide us towards plates that would come out quickly. The guac came first, it was perfection. Bright with lime and cilantro. So fresh it tasted like it was made seconds before. Delightful. Moments later, we got the taquitos, and holy crap, those were so crisp and creamy and satisfying. A perfect balance of textures, a perfect balance of flavor. Perfection. And the shrimp tacos were amazeballs. There was way too much shrimp, and I had to put some on my plate, devour the taco, and then go back for a nice pile of extra filling. Oh what a bummer lol.We chatted and ate and drank our Palomas in a warm and chill atmosphere with great music and great food. Our server had our bill ready with plenty of time to get to the theatre on time, but we were having so much fun, we stayed for another drink. Missed a few songs from the opening act, but it was worth it. We 100% will be going back next time we're in Kalamazoo, bc everyone in that restaurant is absolutely killing it. Thank you all so much, you created such a great experience!

Had an excellent dinner and drinks before catching a play at the Civic theater. Person on phone was very accommodating of our specific time situation. Roca has delicious vegetarian and plant based options. The Guacamole was particularly awesome. Recommend for my veg friends for sure.

I would highly recommend Roca for many reasons. Great atmosphere, clean, amazing staff, outstanding drinks, fantastic food. We were a party of six that went in for dinner and drinks. My personal favorites for the drinks were the Anastasia (perfectly balanced cocktail) and the Pilot Talk if you don't mind the smokey Mezcal flavor. For apps my favorites were the Guacamole and the Argentinian Beef Empanadas. I also really liked the beef barbacoa tacos...the beef had a really good flavor and was cooked perfectly. II liked the queso fundido (with chirozo), but it came with sliced bread. I ended up using the tortilla chips that we ordered for the table instead. It would be better if they served it with flour tortilla instead of the bread so you could roll it up in the the tortilla. I'm not usually a big fan of sweet potatoes, but I did try the Taquitos de Papas and I really enjoyed it. I would highly suggest it if you like sweet potato. Great place to come and enjoy drinks and apps. I wish I could try some of the main dishes, but the apps hit the spot for this venture.
