One of the top BBQ places in Lansing. So sad they are closed.

Just a nice well rounded flavor that compliments the deliciously smoke saturated, moist, tender, forget the knife meat! Freddy is a master chef! My friends and I will be back for sure!

Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by my experience at 517 BBQ. I tried the two meat chicken and ribs dinner with cheesy potatoes and jalapeño cornbread and everything we ordered had technical issues with its preparation and lacked flavor. The chicken was a rubbery texture, the ribs were not cooked low and slow enough as the fat hadn't rendered, the cheesy potatoes were too thick and sticky, and the cornbread (which was the best thing on my plate) was dry and crumbly. My significant other and I split a medium tub of coleslaw and the "sauce" on it tasted like watered down miracle whip or Mayo. We also ordered a medium tub of baked beans and ended up with green beans which tasted like they came out of a can. We were both bummed about the cost, especially the cost of the sides, for what we got. With so many other great BBQ spots nearby, we likely won't be coming back here.

517 catered my Dad’s celebration of life and everything was wonderful. They were very quick with getting back to me when I called about their catering service, they had my order and what I needed to feed 45 people quickly put together, while being professional and friendly. I added desert the following day of ordering with no problem. Everyone at the gathering for my Dad throughly enjoyed. You won’t be disappointed.

517 BBQ is a favorite of mine. The brisket is to due for and the cheesy potatoes are divine. The drive thru makes it easy for my spouse to grab us a couple meals on their way home from work or shopping.

They didn't have only 2 of the meat's Chicken was good but the Ribs were fatty and tough good coleslaw

The pulled pork is extremely good, but the bbq sauce was Sweet Baby Ray's straight from Meijers. So mediocre. I got the pulled pork sandwich combo with cole slaw. Unfortunately, they put cilantro in their slaw, which I dislike. A straight up old fashioned slaw would be nice. I'll go back to try the brisket, but I think I will just get meat. Lansing has a lot of great bbq, so 517 needs to up it's game.

I really wanted to like it but it's just not good and I can't comprehend all of the favorable reviews. We had, ribs, brisket. Chicken, pulled pork, beans, cheesy potatos and corn bread. We ordered larger amounts for a family event. None of the meats had any flavor, the potatos were bland, the beans tasted like what you would get out of a can and the corn bread was dry but it was honestly the best thing. It was also delivered more than an hour earlier than requested which could be the delivery services fault so I'm not holding that against them. The meats were all very dry, tough and lacked any sort of rub/seasoning and the bbq smoke flavor was faint. The potatos were a weird texture, like cheesy potato casserole meets mashed potato but with no salt or seasoning to be found. With other bbq places in the area this one is not for us.

We decided to try this restaurant for dinner last night after seeing someone post on Facebook asking to support them because covid has been tough. The drive-thru and service were nice. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich with cheesy potatoes and green beans and a pulled pork plate with cheesy potatoes, mac and cheese, and cornbread. When we ate dinner at home, we discovered the pulled pork plate looked and tasted just like turkey. So I'm hoping someone messed up. The cornbread was crumbly and would fall apart in your hand. Sides were nothing spectacular. Might have liked it better if I actually got to eat pulled pork. It was okay food, but there are better barbecue places in Lansing. I won't be back.

Stopped by this place to check it out. The Brisket plate is a great value and taste great. You get side with a mound of meat and it is honestly enough for my Wife and myself to share. I have also had the nachos with chicken, it was pretty good and again enough to share. The staff is friendly and one time they had homemade peanut butter cookies which were delicious. Highly recommend this place for some quick bbq.
