Went to Kawa at the recommendation of a friend, and definitely was not "wow'd". We went around lunchtime and the special and the roll that I got served tasted like it was covered in sesame oil. When it was brought to the waitresses attention she responded with "oh? Yea...." leading me to believe that she's heard this before. Fiancés rolls were nothing fancy, and were done correctly so no complaints from her. For the 50$ price tag I expected better quality. I don't think I'll be going back.Parking: Easy access, plenty of space.

The sushi is AMAZING but I took a star off because... this was our 2nd or 3rd time there, and I thought perhaps it was a fluke based on what we ordered the 1dt time. But all of our rolls have come out sitting in a tray of liquid. Not exactly soy sauce, and it has great flavor, but unless your eat the roll really fast, the last half of the roll ends up with really soggy rice on the bottom and the rolls start to fall apart. Again, the flavors are amazing, but why sit them in liquid... if it's meant to accompany the rolls, serve it on the side. Moving forward, we will ask for that sauce on the side to avoid a mess. Again, food is excellent, just an odd presentation.

We stopped in because of high recommendation from a friend..and stumbled on our new favorite happy hour venue.Everything was fresh and so yummy.Fun up-beat and clean atmosphere/wonderful service.Also and a s a side note, can't wait to try the Korean menu items. ?Parking: Plenty of parking spots.

Flavors and qualities lacking. Fish tasted old, was served sushi when we order nigiri and the was given wrong fish. Rolls weren't executed well, ended up soggy, flavors didn't blend well. Just wasn't good. We tried it based on online reviews hoping it would be good and were disappointed.

This is an amazing place! Server was very nice, food was amazing and prices were good for the services provided. Most of our meal was gone before I thought of taking a pic!! But believe me…it was a very good meal!
I've been coming here since around its opening and have kept returning for their food ever since. I originally wanted to write a novel's worth of reviews on each item on the menu I've tried including items no longer being served but I doubt Google will hold all that text.I've recommended this place to friends, family, and even coworkers. Every single one of them love coming here to see what the fuss is about. I hope in the coming years and so on I'll have had everything there is to offer because I'm so interested to see what they taste like.

Fish quality is just better than anything around. Fair prices for what you get. Super friendly staff. This place is my favorite in Grand Rapids. My personal favorite sushi other than any of the nigiri is the japanese lasagna roll.
