I picked up two chicken combos and they were fantastic! The chicken was moist and the coating was light and crispy. It actually crunched when we bit into it. The fries were perfect, too. Very crisp! This was our first time, we did a takeout and it was delicious! The woman who greeted me at the counter was friendly and gracious. She was also very helpful in helping me decide what to get. We’ll definitely return to Captain Jay’s! Hopefully they’ll keep their eye on the ball for consistency, and we’ll have another great experience in the future. Good work. We have a new fried chicken place to go to. Thank you!

I wait 15 minutes go inside and ask for order, cashier tells me they have to wait to cash me out? After 5 minutes she then tells me it will be 15 minutes. 3rd time I've had issues with this place.

Normally they chicken wings are good, but on Friday it tasted like the wings sat in a overly seasoned bag of flour for a while and was really salty and overcooked. The grease needed to be changed. I would have taken it back if I had not lived so far way.

Honestly this place was terrible. Their service was horrible. I ordered 25 pc chicken for a big event at 11:00 and I come at 12:30 and they say “we’re still cooking.” Like how? From the back I can see the person who’s cooking on her phone. Also the cashier was on her phone too. They were all slow and I even needed to tell them “can you hurry up I have an event I’m gonna be late”. Honestly, I gave them more than enough time and they say they’re not done.. and guess what they fed me, RAW CHICKEN!! You can literally see that it was raw and I even bite into it and at first I was like “oh I can’t bite into it. Weird.” So I spit it out. After that I saw that it was raw. Jeez people.?

This was my first time there and I ordered the number 7 combo- 2 wings and breast. It was supposed to come with fries, bread and cole slaw. When i got home the cole slaw was missing and there were no utensils ( i used my own in that case). What if I was eating at a park- I guess since there was no fork, I was supposed to use my fingers. I wasn't about to drive back to get the cole slaw but since the chicken was good, I'll be back and see if they'll give me another cole slaw. The cashier said the dinner came with a pop. When I got home I see they charged me an extra dollar for the pop. I'll have to see next time if the combo includes a pop or not. I think I'll save the receipt.

On my 3rd visit to the 12-mile Rd Southfield store, I was very disappointed. The chicken legs were not cooked done. I bite into raw red ? meat! The ocean Perch fish was cooked too mushy... didn't taste like the ocean Perch I usually buy.No straws were restocked at the pop fountain.The young lady at the counter is courteous, so kudos to her.Sorry... this is my 3rd and last visit.

I just left this establishment and the service was beyond terrible. Until today the service was great.I ordered a family size amount of fish and okra and asked for hot sauce. I was given one hot sauce for all of my food and the container was half full.The problem came when I asked for an additional hot sauce and was told it was additional $1! I told the cashier I am a repeat customer and was always given 2 hot sauces with my order and I never had to ask for additional. She then goes to get her manager, which comes to me with the worst attitude ever. He tells me his employees were not supposed to give me 2 and that he had to have a mtgwith them. Then he tells me I should read his store policy, which is in the counter torn and faded. I say okay and that I won't be coming to this establishment again and as I am walking to leave he continues to loudly and agressively lectures me about his store policy. I turn around and tells him to stop talking to me and he continues to argue about his policy.The service I received was terrible. The manager used very harsh and inappropriate language with me. He could have said although my employees didn't follow the policy, I'll give this to you this time but next time the policy is to pay for condiments. The service I received was, we don't give a damn if you come back or not. I'm a woman and a man should never speak to a woman in the manner he spoke to me. His demeanor speaks to the climate of that restaurant.I will never patronize them again. Their is a JJs fish and chicken near by with excellent service and they give you condiments for your food without a hassle or extra charge. It's too bad in a black run restaurant you can't get good service. All you get is bad attitudes, like we owe them something.I'm never going back to them!
