The energy of the place and the lovely ladies shine forth in everything -- the personal interactions, the decor, the vibe, and also THE FOOD!Everything was flavorful, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and delicious. The tea is perfection, and the dessert was simply wonderful. We will be back!My favorite part, by far, was the women running the place. Genuine smiles, kind faces, heartwarming energy -- it was uplifting to us and our entire day.So grateful we found this place!

Excellent service! We were greeted with a warm smile and very helpful server who answered questions about the menu. We asked her how Ethiopian spice compared to Indian and Thai spice so we would know if we could handle the spicy options. She actually brought us a sample of one of the beef spicy dishes. The food was fantastic! We especially enjoyed the spicy beef, chicken and potatoes and spicy red lentils dishes. We got the 2 person 2 meat and 3 veggie option which was enough for us to have a little leftover. We would definitely go back for a special occasion or to bring friends and family who appreciate authentic cultural cuisine.

This was my first experience at Taste of Ethiopia and with Ethiopian food in general. The food was pleasantly nice although it was the environment/service that stood out. The place had a serene vibe and I enjoyed the music and the overall ambience. I found the coffee a little underwhelming for the price ( and the fact that you could place a minimum order of 2). But my friend said the Ethiopian beer was great :)

We were there for a late lunch, so we missed the lunch buffet. We ordered the veggie sampler plate and the chicken dish. Asked to have it all served on a large platter above injera. The chicken (C3) was fantastic. Very tender and flavorful. For the sampler plate, we selected V2, 4, 5, 7 & 9. While we liked them all, we tasted a certain spice in the green beans (V5) that was very different from anything we've ever tasted. Might not be our choice next time, but there are so many other choices for the sampler. We asked about dessert and selected the ice cream and dates. Spectacular presentation with a drizzle of honey & cinnamon. One was enough to share. Cook/owner came out to check on us and asked about the food. We chatted briefly with her. Service was quick, pleasant and exceptional. I wish I lived in the area to eat here more often. Truly a wonderful experience.

I was so excited to try this place. But I’m so greatly disappointed. The food was cold and the portions were so small. I literally left hungry after spending 50 dollars on a meal. Everything tasted like it came from a can and the staff was steadily making faces and laughing thinking we couldn’t see them. I felt so unwelcomed. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Especially considering the prices vs what you actually get. I was so hungry after that I started eating month old trail mix in the car.
My friend and I drove half an hour to come to this place and we left very disappointed and HUNGRY. We ordered the combo meal and the waitress recommended a bigger portion since there wa two of us. I was kind of shocked when I seen the plate we got since we were paying $50 for it. We tried everything with an open mind but it was cold and mashed up beans. The waitress only checked up on us once and was snickering the whole time. It should have been a sign that the place was empty. When we got our bill we were charged gratuity which made our bill $60!!!!!! We left starving and had to go get another meal 0/10 I don’t recommend.

When there was no one going in and out and it was the end of the day, I should have taken a queue. And definitely looked at my food before leaving. (I eagerly waited for a $21 subpar takeout.)I received a $7 vegan cheesecake slice that was quite little (3 inches), as well as Black Eyed Peas soup that looked more like Black Bean soup. I didn't see any entire black-eyed peas, and I received a crumpled up slightly burnt injera.Unfortunately, I will never return; nonetheless, the young girls who assisted me were very kind.Vegetarian options: Had vegan options.

This is a great low key place to catch a vibe, our host was incredible - I can’t say enough great things about this place, it’s my new go-to spot when I’m in the area and it’s even worth the travel if you’re not in Southfield.
