Frenchie's pastrami sandwich is truly one of the only things that makes living in Traverse City worth it. The bread is fresh, the pastrami is astonishingly juicy, and there's something about the mustard I can't express through words. Some say Frenchie, the man himself, is mean, or brash at the very least. There may be some truth to these claims. My dad says he once gave Frenchie a cooler and was never thanked. He yelled at my grandma once, but I'm sure he had his reasons. When he picks up the phone, you can tell how he's feeling by the way he says the word "Frenchie's." You can hear the 15 years of owning a restaurant in his voice. You would probably yell at people too, if you had his job.But none of his transgressions matter when the sandwich is melting in your mouth. I think Frenchie is delightful. Frankly, I like that you never really have to guess what kind of day he's having. It's almost what I imagine living in New York is like.Frenchie will always have my business, and my respect. I hope he never changes.

What a cozy hidden gem! I came for a late breakfast on a Friday morning and had a delicious and quiet breakfast. It is very small inside, but if you time it right (between breakfast and lunch) on a weekday, you can have this cozy spot almost to yourself (in the off season I should add). I had their French toast and maple links. They were perfect. It was a huge portion and could have easily been shared. I will definitely come back the next time I am in town.

Awesome spot! Me and my boyfriend come here at least once a month. The pastrami, the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits and jam, and the chocolate chips cookies are always a must have. It’s always such a blast, they play good jazz, with great furniture and a great vibe. Not to mention the woman who serves us is so consistently a delight. Absolutely love this place :) 10/10 for sure dude!

What a cute place! I think it can only hold about 10 people, so it's cozy. The food and service were great. The Egyptian beans were well seasoned and the breakfast sandwich was served on a huge piece of bread.

I don't think there are earthly words to describe how much I love Frenchies. Ten out of five stars. I have been going here for a long time. We just got some land and what better to celebrate with than some of the best food in Traverse. Lovely service and incredible food. You cannot go wrong getting anything on the menu. The only trouble is that I can't eat everything on the menu in a single sitting.

What a hidden gem! Frenchie's is a cozy spot that's seriously unique. It's different from everywhere else in the best way. The biscuits and raspberry jam are phenomenal, but all of the food is great! Even the coffee was better. It's nice to see a quiet spot with tons of character. Hard to find nowadays.

As the kids say, it was "mid". Decent food, good coffee, pleasant service. Quirky space with CLOSE accomodations. Give it a try but don't get too lofty of expectations and be prepared to wait. Kitchen is a one man show and he ain't gonna be rushed.

No.. not good. service sucks. The place is the size of a closet.. if you can serve more than 6 people at a time I don’t understand how you could even stay open..

I love the complex flavors the menu offers and the atmosphere of this small eclectic restaurant is perfect. I'll be back with friends in tow.

Amazing homemade food! Had farm to travel vibes and the cutest location. Very small and cozy like a little hobbit hole.Get there early! Tables are limited. And the wait is long but worth it.They had great vegetarian options. The bread and jam is also fresh madeThe food was absolutely delicious. We got potatoes, the Egyptian breakfast, the smoked salmon omelet, the tomato omelette, bread and jam, and the pastrami.10/10 would recommendVegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian food in both savory and sweet meals

Went here during my birthday up-north trip and it was one of the best breakfast spots I have been to in the state. Food was made fresh, with fresh ingredients, latte was phenomenal, every food items was fantastic. Be prepared to wait but it is worth it. The atmosphere makes it 100 times better. A bit pricey but worth every penny. Will be back if in TC area again!
