The food was amazing and so were the drinks. We visited during restaurant week, and it did not disappoint on the food aspect. The tables are a little snug, but it was nice with being close with our 6-person party. The end of our visit was odd, and I debated sharing. Our check was split 3 ways, as there were 3 couples. The waitress specifically approached my husband to let him know that because of our party size, there was an auto gratuity added. Which is totally fine. However, the 2 other couples or 2 other checks from our table did not have it. This is strange to me since my husband is also the most brown out of everyone paying. It was just off-putting and did not sit right with me. Not sure if that was on purpose and she played it off by saying its because of the party size-- or if when she split the check the auto gratuity can only stick to one bill because of their computer system and the way it was added or split.

We stopped in here just after the holidays to celebrate a big event. The servers were so helpful and friendly. We tried most of the menu and shared to try each of the different options. The bread here is unbelievable so when you order don’t be shy to get one or two. Their fried chicken was unbelievable, some of the best I ever had. The other plates such as the carrots were so flavorful and unique which made this experience such fun. The space is very nice. It’s small and feels lived in not just white walls. The drinks were great, one of the best high balls I’ve ever had and it’s fun they have hamms on the menu. This is a wonderful place to have some fine dining with great friendly service and unbelievable quality food. Will be back soon.Oh and the desserts! They were all so good. We kept ordering more and different ones because we couldn’t stop!

Outstanding food, drinks and service. It was so fun to have the option to sit at the kitchen counter & see the food being prepared & plated. Every course we had surprised our taste buds. The cocktails were extremely well balanced & so unique. It was a pleasure to be able to chat & get to know chef Emily. Everyone was so personable & attentive. We will definitely be back when we are in TC! Could not recommend coming here more.

My wife and I are so thankful for Modern Bird. They are by far, the most consistent and enjoyable high end dining experience in Northern Michigan. After dining here over 10 times, we can honestly say not a single dish, drink or bottle of wine has left us wanting for more.
