One of my favorite restaurants in Michigan. Always fun to go to, great food and great service. This post was from several years ago, but just saw that it did not finish posting so did today. I still feel the same way about this restaurant. Excellent quality, excellent service, one of the best restaurants I think in Michigan.

Been here many times over the course of many years with my family. They have excellent food, excellent service, and a more relaxed dining atmosphere (which I appreciate). I absolutely love the grilled brandy shrimp, their prime rib, and their crab cakes. Every time we finish a meal we go to their art gallery in the next room to browse before leaving. I've lived in Traverse City for 24 years and can say confidently this is one of my top 3 restaurants in the area.

Greated with smiles as soon as we walked in. Our Server Meg was a ray of sunshine. Introduced the menu and drink pairings like a prologue to a great novel. What was nice you can order their starters as a grouping of small plates and enjoy or just go for the entrée.

Love their prime rib. It's what prime rib should be. As good as that restaurant on Long Lake, for a lot less. The only difference is here they serve mashed potatoes & that other restaurant serves a baked potato. But there's many other tasty entreés to try. Cocktails are also reasonably priced. Service is excellent. And they have homemade bread that's warm out of the oven. The brownie sundae is huge & yummy! Their decor is a little tired, but everything else about the experience is awesome!

The food here is consistently great. Service is excellent. There is a full bar. And an art gallery. Spouse had beef and I had the pork. Both were delicious and portions were generous. Dessert was warm apple walnut cobbler with ice cream. Yummy. Never had a bad meal here. And the drive on a beautiful fall day was perfect.

Great place for dinner on the peninsula, crab cakes were the best, food and ambiance were really good. Service was excellent, Lilly is a professional. Will both be back and recommend.

This is a nice, peaceful place near the end of the peninsula. The whitefish and prime rib were fabulous. The wine selection was fine for us. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant

We chose the Tavern because my sister saw it in something that our hotel provided (Country Inn). It was NOT a disappointment. The ride to the restaurant was beautiful, rolling countryside with water views the entire way. Our server offered her opinion on dinner and I'm glad I listened to her (Wendy) as the Walleye was SO good. I may have eaten the whole thing, leaving no room for dessert. No matter. It was worth it.

We visited while wine tasting on Old Mission and we were looking for a nice celebratory meal. Since we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated in the gallery, which was really cool to look at all the local art. We started with the artichoke dip, which was very good. For our entrees, we both got the prime rib which was cooked perfectly. It was expensive but the quality was great. I probably wouldn’t make this a stop every time we’re up here, but if you’re looking for a special meal on Old Mission, look no further.

Just finished up our tour of the wineries and returning from the Lighthouse. Trying to to decide where to stop for dinner, we passed this place by, right at their opening for the day. We figured, lets give it a shot. Obviously a popular place as the cars started pouring in right behind us. Although we didn't have a reservation, they seated us without issue. We quickly cruised the menu and had our sights set on a seafood dinner (so we could share a bottle of wine). My wife ordered the Crab Cakes and I ordered and I ordered the Grilled Brandy Shrimp. I thought the dinner was good, an abundant amount of shrimp, in the Brandy Sauce (which was awesome), rice and green beans done well. My wife thought the Crab Cakes were just OK, she gave me half of one (served with 3) and I would agree. Pretty good dinner overall, we probably would return when back next year.

We ordered the chicken dinner and the Michigan Cherry Salad. let’s just say the chicken was phenomenal. Very tender, moist and flavorful. It was accompanied by homemade mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread and some cherries. My Michigan salad was fresh and sooooo good. Nice , clean with a nice atmosphere

We had the Walleye and it was excellent. They were very accommodating and the service was excellent. Don't be fooled by the website photos with white linen. There are only a couple of tables with table clothes, mostly it is very causal. The wine choice were ok, but not great.
