Wow wow wow wow wow.Last night my girlfriend and I were discussing what we should have for dinner. She says to me "I want to try that Polish place in Troy!", which I said "Oh, yeah! Polish Market is great", thinking we were going grocery shopping for a nice home cooked meal. As we arrived and I tried parking in the Markets side of the lot, she informed me she was referring to this place called "Polka" across the way. I didn't even know this place opened. Last time I visited this plaza, that building was unoccupied.Well, I am glad she suggested this! The place upon initial impression was surprisingly nice. A lot of murals, a very beautiful bar, and nice and comfortable seating. As we were going through the menu we realized that this place is very fair on pricing (Average $12-15 person, some entrees can be a little more expensive).I ordered the polish combo which consisted of a stuffed cabbage, kielbasa link, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and 3 pierogis (choice of flavor was potato cheddar). Everything on that plate was great. Bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. While it took a little while to come out after ordering, you could tell it's because they care about the quality of the food they send out.The service is really great as well. The servers wear Polish outfits and are super friendly. To my surprise, our server actually spoke Polish fluently! While I had no idea what she was saying, it was cool to listen to her take another tables order.Definitely come here if you're into authentic Polish food and don't want to make the drive all the way to Hamtramck.

Ambiance is old world, yet fresh. Service was top notch. Food was so much better than expected. The dill pickle soup is excellent The city chicken was juicy and tender. The Hungarian goulash was best I ever had. Highly rec

Great friendly atmosphere, great authentic Polish ethnic atmosphere with wall murals, curtains, dinner ware and more. Food is good price, great taste, well made, Polish potato pancakes are my favorite as they are tasty not greasy the way they should be. The soups mushroom and pickle I've had are delicious. Just wish they offered both types of kraut, I like sour kraut and they serve a sweet kraut, it's good I just prefer sour over sweet. I'm glad the restaurant is here also they have a banquet area and next door is the Polish Market so you can shop there and have your meal at the restaurant, a win-win great planning to have it all in one place.

Food is very good, nice flavor, good for a change from the typical restaurant. The service still is very lacking. You should pay them a visit, just don't get your hopes up that the servers will be very attentive.

Fresh off a trip to Krakow a few months ago, and with my mom visiting, we were having pierogi cravings! Polka is a beautifully decorated, open restaurant with lots of seating, a bar, a banquet hall, and a smaller space for groups withing the main restaurant but a bit set off. We went around 5:30 on a Sunday evening and were seated right away with our party of five. We ordered a variety of pierogi as an appetizer, and they do have several options. The pierogi are made in the "American" way which is to say the dough is on the thicker side. All flavors are delicious. City chicken, Dill pickle soup, cucumbers, meatballs, and all of the other favorite Polish foods are included on the menu but my best surprise was realizing that they offer Zurek, a Polish rye sour soup. It's listed under "kielbasa soup" on the menu so I didn't notice at first. I fell in love with it when I was in Krakow, and I'm really happy that it's offered here. Definitely try it if you've never had any or are unfamiliar. Giving four stars instead of five because I do feel that most of the menu is a bit salty for my taste. Zurek was a bit too salty, as were my meatballs and my husband's City Chicken.

Terrible service on multiple visits & management makes excuses...if you like one hour waits for food , then this is the place for you.

We went to this restaurant to get fresh cooked pierogi, unfortunately we got in the pan warmed up (in a flavourful weird cooking fat) pierogi's. So disappointed!

Just had our first dining experience at Polka! One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Hands down the best dill pickle soup I’ve ever had (and I’ve eaten a lot of dill pickle soup!) can’t wait to come back again!
Beautiful place! The pierogies were outstanding.
