great burgers, cold beer, great staff, fun atmosphere! **UPDATE** I have tried shantytown roughly 7 different times in the last year... it's just not the same. The burger patties are so dry and overcooked. The tots are barely cooked and just mushy. They changed from serving your food on plates to serving your food in tiny plastic baskets with no room to even add ketchup. It pains me to leave a review like this, I don't want to think this about shantytown because I really did love this place! I used to crave their cool ranch burger. It was perfect food, no matter what! Now, it's just mediocre and underwhelming. I've been trying it over and over, hoping that it was just an off day. ??

We’ve been coming to Shantytown since we moved to Bloomington in 2015. We weren’t sure what to expect with new owners and we were a little reluctant for good reason. The French Dip was 2 very thin slices of meat on an over sized bun. Nothing else! With exactly 8 tater tots. My husband’s Mushroom and Swiss burger was paper thin with 15 fries so disappointed~ will Never go back! Would have been better off going to Arby’sKid-friendliness: It was ok nothing to brag home about! If they continue to be this stingy with their portions, the new owners won’t last until summer! Absolutely Un Unacceptable!!!

solid dive bar and burger joint with reasonable prices. don't go here looking for anything fancy or craft burgers. they're meaty, greasy, and just plain tasty. pair it with a brew, and you've got yourself a quality meal. waitress was very personable and quickly fixed an issue with our order. the fries came out kind of cold and she brought us a fresh basket of hot and crispy fries. parking lot is VERY small, but there's plenty of street parking available.

Decent place. Food is pretty good for bar food. The 70 year old waitress with all the earrings in her face is super unprofessional. Bless her heart. Aside from this white trash waitress, the only thing I’d change is the beers on tap. Wish they’d get some decent beers.. they occasionally have some, but it’s rare.
