The restaurant wasn't busy, there were only two tables with customers. Went during peak hours, lunch time. Very expensive for what we received. We had to find the coffee pot ourselves to get a second cup. Food quality, very cool (not ice col), extremely greasy, the plates were two large for the breakfast items. Drive the extra 10 minutes and go to the Social house over the hill.

Waited for 40 minutes for our food, very greasy, had to get our own coffee refill as the three servers were in the back or walking around not helping. Took 10 minutes just to get our drinks. We love the social house in Hermantown and was very disappointed with the presentation of food/ service at the canal location. And there was only three other tables at the time of visit so I don’t understand the lack of attention or service we received. Food was also Luke warm when it came to the table.

My husband and I were at the Canal Park location for brunch today for the first time and will be back as the staff was easily able to adjust for my personal tastes ( I HATE eggs) as well as service being timely. The only complaint I have is that my iced tea tasted like coffee, what I like to call “cofftea”. Whomever is in charge of brewing the tea should not be running the hot water through the coffee maker as the oils from the coffee end up in the tea making the tea taste bad.

Very good creative dishes, great service. I had the huevos rancheros and was very good, but my wife had the avocado bacon chicken sandwich and it was just ok, but great sweet potato fries.

Waited way too long for food. The food is heavily overpriced when you can get faster and better at McDonald’s.

Basic, no frills atmosphere, but just what we need when dining with kids and grand-kids. Hamburgers are great! Portions large for French fries and sweet potato fries.

The welcoming host and hostess set the tone with their friendly and helpful demeanor. The restaurant exuded cleanliness and was impeccably maintained. Opting for the Breakfast Burrito minus meat, eggs, and cheese, I was surprised to find cheese mysteriously melted on my plate. The burrito leaned heavily on green peppers rather than hash browns and was doused in what seemed to be Pace Picante sauce. It was a run-of-the-mill breakfast burrito, lacking any standout qualities. My wife opted for The bacon, Eggs, potatoes, and pancakes breakfast, which offered a generous portion for its price. However, the dish fell short in the flavor department. The potatoes lacked the usual onions and bell peppers, leaving me to speculate if my wife's portion was mistakenly served to me, as my burrito was overflowing with bell peppers. The pancake was disappointingly dry. Seating ourselves at the bar turned out to be a misstep, as the bartender's demeanor left much to be desired. Her unfriendly attitude and neglect in refilling my Pepsi throughout the meal contributed to subpar service. With this experience in mind, we will continue our quest for a top-notch breakfast spot in Duluth.

Tried this place twice now and really wanted to like it. The food is good but the service and hectic atmosphere is just awful. Literally the worst service ever, inattentive and just too busy maybe. No server at the bar both times I came, when she did show up she was sipping on her Stanley and on her phone. It has great potential but is missing the mark by hiring inexperienced, under trained, inattentive staff. Could use a competent manager.

We decided to try The Social House before an event at the DECC as it was conveniently located across the blue bridge in Canal Park and was an easy walk. We gave ourselves plenty of time to have a few drinks and dinner before the show so felt generally pretty good when we arrived. As we approached, I noted that the space felt big and open, seemingly industrial, with a cafeteria feel to it. As we got to the Host's area, you could clearly see the staff was frazzled and not communicating well with each other. It was a bit of a chore getting a table, there didn't seem to be any organized manner for putting people on a waitlist or informing us how long it would be. Once we sat, we were greeted promptly by our server who brought us beverages and took our order. At this point the waiting started. We started to get impatient after waiting 45 min for two sandwiches and fries, the server bringing us refills as we started noticing people who arrived after us getting their meals. She told us she'd check the status as she could see we were obviously frustrated and hungry. She came back a few min later saying it'd be another 15 min or so at which cut too deeply into our plans for the evening. Needless to say, we were deeply disappointed. We left The Social House only to have a dinner of concessions which were served piping hot and with a smile. After all the hype, The Social House was a let down and we won't be revisiting or recommending to friends.
