The Porterhouse was above average in terms of service and atmosphere, but not food. Josh Porter Pritchard sat us down and recommended me his Porter Special - comes with a side of his white sauce. They brought it out in a Hy-Vee cart for some reason and cooked it in front of me. He started pouring bottles of Tropicana apple juice on it, which is a huge turn-off for me as I do not like fruit and meat together. He then poured his special white sauce on it - very sticky and very little of it, not nearly enough to cover the whole steak. When he finished cooking it, it tasted terrible. It had been marinated in apple juice, which was not stated in the menu, and it was a terrible concoction that I regret ordering. It was a huge waste of money for a family of 4 all ordering the Porter Special - Over 90 dollars. The service and atmosphere was above average but overall not a good experience - will not come back here.Dietary restrictions: The Porter Special is cooked and marinated in Tropicana fruit juice - not specified on the menu.

Always a great meal at the Porterhouse. The quality is top notch, drinks are flavorful and the staff consistently delivers an exceptional experience (Pam killed it the last time I was there). The only downside is that the place is relatively small and they pack you in, so it can get quite noisy. You can definitely look past that though for all the other reasons I just mentioned.

Porterhouse gave me an upscale, suburban, older person vibe. I can be a little picky when it comes to my food and felt that this place didn't hit that mark, especially for the prices. I could see how it appeals to many people though in the simplicity of the meals. It's a steak and potatoes and seafood place. Inside is cozy with the fireplace and dark mood lighting. We started with the artichoke dip and bacon wrapped scallops. The artichoke dip was pretty tasty! It had bigger chunks of artichoke in it so some people might not like that. As for the scallops, they were tasty but the bacon overpowered most of the scallop flavor. For entrees, I enjoyed how they offered combo surf n turf meals. Your choice of three different steaks and then a seafood side. The meal also comes with a soup or salad and a vegetable (potatoes or greens). I was so disappointed with the meal. The clam chowder was awful. I almost sent it back but I couldn't be that person lol. So over seasoned with herbs and pepper, that was all I tasted. It wasn't very creamy either which is typically what New England clam chowder is. The steak was lacking in flavor, almost no taste at all. The mushrooms and onions that were extra weren't seared. I like a nice fried, crispy onion and mushroom but instead they were soggy and sitting in liquids. The crab cakes were also lacking in flavor and dry so they give you a remoulade sauce to make it better. Yes, they were large crab cakes but yikes, I didn't get much from them. The mashed potatoes weren't bad but again, overpowered with bacon. The service was wonderful and no complaints there. The bill was expensive and we left feeling unsatisfied with the meals. If you want a nice steak go somewhere in Minneapolis like PS Steak.

So disappointed once again. Salmon was raw in the middle, pork chops were so chewy, soup was warm, steak was well done when asked for medium rare..shrimp cocktail tasted old ….halibut was not fresh. Will not return.

Overall the dining experience was great however the wine price for a house red was very surprising I probably wouldn't dine there again except I have gift certificates!!! I would recommend to a friend but caution them that's expensive!!!

Another wonderful meal at Porterhouse. The location is ideal for us (some might say it's in the middle of nowhere, but we love it), food excellent, service great! Compared to similar restaurants “in the cities”, they don't over-crowd their tables... last night we were right next to two tables of folks enjoying what appeared to be a company dinner - 18-20 people, many of them healthy looking guys... so much food, everyone was enjoying themselves, and yet my wife and I could still carry on a conversation - highly recommend it!!
What's not to love? Great margatini, lemon drops and old fashions. Get their bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer - yummy! Their steaks are amazing but I usually opt for their delicious lobster. Wait staff is always top-notch with great suggestions for food, drink and dessert. You won't be disappointed!

I had not been in a few years but remembered it being nice and good food. It was so much better than I remembered! It is like stepping back in time to and old school elegant restaurant. The service is outstanding and the food is some of the best in have had anywhere in the world.
