We found this place from google maps. The website was not working and there was no operating hours added. We still went as it comes as one of the top breakfast places in the search near Minneapolis. It is 9:04am and they are closed. Even though there was somebody inside, noone opened the door and answered if they will open or not. No sign, no response, nothing.

We used to love this place. Had a great breakfast and kinda a reasonably dinner. Always prepared perfect. Then the owner went to waiter service. Prices soared.Go back to your start. You will be a star.

Wickedly expensive food with terrible service (this review is written about six months after my last (and final) time eating at Birchwood). Compound all of this with an owner who has a penchant for firing all of their staff - heck no. I'd seen someone else write in their review that this is a "lowkey brunch place you go when you're feeling a little more comfort over bougie" - I'd add that they THINK they are a bougie restaurant. It is currently closed, so at least you'll save your money (their portion sizes have really taken a dive too).

Terrible customer service. They all seem new and unwelcoming. I wanted to order a waffle, and they have changed the options and put bacon on it. I don’t eat bacon and asked for a substitute (put guacamole instead) and they said a charge of 4 dollars? That’s ridiculous if you’re plant based/ vegan. Yet they “claim” they are vegan friendly? Once I received my order, the waitress did not put any forks in there? It is a take-out! So I complained to the manager and she did not care. Horrible customer service.

Delicious interesting small menu. Even though the menu was small there were many items I would like to try. Outdoor seating available and and all servers were wearing masks and friendly. I had the hand pie and it was fabulous! Coffee was good too. Will definitely be returning.

My favorite place in Minneapolis for breakfast lunch or dinner. Great coffee and the dishes are fantastic. Very friendly waiters. A must go

We went here for lunch today. Ordered (online from our table) at 1:00 but didn’t get our food until 10 minutes to 2:00. Fifty minute wait for a salad and a waffle. The food was good, but don’t go hungry. We asked if they forgot our order and they said, no, they were just busy. It seemed that they had plenty of staff, but maybe they need to accept less reservations if wait times will be that long. This has been one of our favorite places, but it’s no where as good as it once was. We won’t be back for awhile.

The MOST wonderful place. The food was amazing, using fresh seasonal ingredients. Everyone was amazing and friendly. The food was fantastic. Mimosas in perfect proportion! Great atmosphere! Beautiful and clean. No matter where you are in Minneapolis, it's worth a visit!

The food was excellent and the service was great too. Great selection of food and drinks, the staff were very helpful, and the prices reasonable for the quality of the food and service.

I am here in MN on business and was looking for a local brunch place to try. The menu is extremely limited. There was a sign outdoors that read “mask to enter” so as I was walking in withmy mask on, the hostess said “no, outdoors only”. The hostess directed me to my table and told me to scan the barcode to order and walked away. No warm welcome or recommendations. I ordered the coffee and the savory waffle. I was never even offered a drink menu but I heard the table next to me talking about their mimosas. As I waited for my food, a server brought a plate with peanut butter and placed it on the ground for the neighboring dog to eat at the table next to me. What is pictured on the website is not how my plate presented. I took 1 bite of food, paid the $23 tab and left. Highly disappointed, dissatisfied, and just not comfortable knowing your servers allow dogs to lick peanut butter from the very same plates you serve your customers with.

We love the Birchwood! For over 20 years it’s been our favorite neighborhood cafe, especially during patio season. No one does local food better than the Birchwood. The depth and breadth of their relationships to local farmers and producers is second to none. It’s not summer until I’ve had an Heirloom Tomato Sweet Corn BLT on the pollinator patio!

Cute neighborhood cafe in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis, Birchwood Cafe is that lowkey brunch place you go when you're feeling a little more comfort over bougie. Order at the counter, and then find a table with your number. The relaxed vibe of this place is really nice if you're looking to take it easy, get your food pretty quick. I ordered the savory waffle: a brown rice waffle with kale, scallion, blueberry maple butter, berries, and peach chutney with an egg and bacon lardons on top served with syrup on the side. First off - that maple butter was to die for. I could just eat that. The waffle itself wasn't very impressive to me, but I did enjoy the syrup - not too sweet, with a nice richness that made the meal overall feel decadent. There wasn't anything that gave me that wow factor, but it was a nice brunch spot. Overall, if I lived in the neighborhood, it would be a nice comfort spot to pop in to. Street parking is easy enough to find in this residential area, and prices are about what you'd expect for a cafe.

I loved the savory waffle and the staff is very nice and helpful! The outdoor patio with umbrellas served us well even in a light drizzle! I also was impressed with the online ordering with the option to split the bill...and no tipping allowed. ( Pay people a good wage and skip the tipping!) I will be back for their dinner night, featuring Red Lake walleye!!!

Had a great time here and a 5-star meal! Excellent service and very welcoming staff. Was it worth the 30-minute scooter ride from our hotel? Absolutely! Can’t wait to go back.
