I don't understand what justifies the prices. As mentioned in other reviews the food was not excellent unfortunately. Our salad was very salty and the fries were mush.

First time and had the crispy chicken sandwich with the salad as the side. It was excellent. Great service, reasonable prices. Very clean and friendly place.

Restaurant week visit to Coalition was less then...underwhelming. Food was mediocre at best. Roast chicken was so salty it was difficult to eat. BBQ mac and cheese was bland. Only good item on the menu was key lime pie. Service was slow. Extra charges were added to the bill for things that were included in the restaurant week menu pricing. Food looked pretty esthetically. I was expecting much more from this restaurant based on its reputation.

I'd give 3.5 starts if I could. Food was a bit overpriced, and only a bit above average. We got kind of a pretentious vibe from the place. The service wasn't quick (could've been short-staffed, who knows). Parking was easy. The desert menu listed items at $8 but we were charged $10, though the key lime pie was tasty. Overall, we probably won't go back because there are plenty of other options in south Minneapolis that we'd prefer.

Finally got to Coalition with high expectations of an excellent meal. On a Saturday night it was packed, the music loud and more appropriate for a pub. Overall, the noise level was deafening and not what I would associate with a high-end dinner out. The service, however, was gracious and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was largely disappointing. The tuna tartare appetizer was nicely presented but the tuna was diced so small and overwhelmed by avocado, tomatoes, and other ingredients it detracted from just enjoying the tuna. The fried wontons, while good, were not flat enough to put the tuna and everything else on. You can fare far better getting excellent Tuna around the corner at AMA for far less. Our second app was the Brussel Sprouts which were so buried in everything but the kitchen sink you can hardly taste the sprouts. An emerging theme with these two dishes was a lack of knowing how to complement the main ingredient without burying it to the point of losing it. For an entree I had the Parmesan Encrusted Walleye. The piece was enormous and far too thick for a breaded filet. The fish itself and the coating was bland and uninspired, as was the accompanying mushy potato wedges. I left the plate mostly uneaten and didn't ask for a container. My wife's squash ravioli had a tasteless brown filling that was very disappointing after having terrific squash ravioli at Broders a couple of weeks earlier. I'd rate Coalition 2.5 because the staff were working hard and well, but the kitchen wasn't up to the standards of the tab.

No gluten free menu, but the staff was knowledgeable. They even double-checked with the chef to make sure my potatoes weren't made in a fryer. The chef made some separate for me to avoid cross contamination. Salmon was delishious!

My husband and I had brunch Sunday morning. Both of our meals were cooked perfectly. Our eggs were just as we ordered. The people cooking our food cared about the food they made. We sat at the bar, the bartender was great and the Bloody Mary was tasty. Even the bathroom was clean and well maintained.Had a great experience, definitely going to be back

Been here a half dozen times across several years, most recently today and I had to leave a review because I just can't bring myself to give this place any more of my money. Except for their enchilada, the food is mid. Totally overpriced and practically custom-made for geriatic Edina bitties, it's mindboggling that this place is as popular as it seems to be. A $22 warm noodle salad that tasted like Lean Cuisine, dressing all puddled up at the bottom and not clinging to the noodles in any way? This place belongs in Robbinsdale. Service and ambiance are fine, but their menu is not only limited in its breadth and ambition, but falls flat in execution.

Finally out for a girls night out after finally planning after having three young kiddos. At 9:30 the waitress was hounding us for our check and signatures, turned all lights on bright at 9:45, bartender folder they needed us to be out within 5 minutes at 9:50. Music turned off at 9:55. This place doesn’t close until 10. What a rude end to an evening when we’re finally able to leave our kiddos. Not sure we’ll be back after being treated like this.

I came here on a Tuesday night for dinner with coworkers, and even on a weekday night it was extremely busy! I tried the Korean bbq cauliflower and the pork entree and both exceeded my expectations! Cozy atmosphere with high quality food!

We were able to get a last minute reservation for 6 pm on a week night. The parking lot was full, but we found street parking less than 1 block away. The restaurant was full by the time we left. It was a little loud but that added to an energetic vibe. The staff was very nice and the service was efficient. We had a salad, a pasta dish and a chicken dish. All were excellent, but we felt that the entrees could have a little warmer. The wines by the glass tasted fresh. Overall it was a very good experience. Definitely worth a return visit.
