I didn't order any food, but I am searching for a sufficient adjective to describe the coffee. "Hypersonic" entails the high energy beverage that I so thoroughly enjoyed. I am still vibrating these many years later. Admission should be charged for admittance to the ubiquitously graffiti decorated rest room. Unfortunately the web site states hours of operation are now from 8:00 AM to Midnight. I found the atmosphere to be an entrancing enigma at 3:00 AM, but obviously the 24 hour operation was another victim of capitalism. Where can I get some of that coffee for home brew?

It’s been awhile since I visited Hard Times (City Pages was still around when I last went), and I realized I forgot to write a review, so here we are…Hard Times has a great vibe. Feels rooted in community and is unpretentious and radical. The food was pretty good, but the quality isn’t on par with Modern Times or Seward Cafe in my opinion. I appreciate the vegetarian/vegan options.

Awesome coffee, my daughter had gyros sandwich .. clear, good atmosphere, music.. best coffee, better than caribou..But would love a Blueberry muffin..Their was only strawberry muffins...

Celiacs can’t eat here. I was so excited to see that they advertise so many gluten free options. Paid $3.50 fee to get cash bc they don’t take card and then when I got up to the counter to order I was told they couldn’t accommodate me because of cross contamination. Please don’t say things are gf if you can’t prepare them gf. It’s really demoralizing to people with food allergies to show up and be refused service.
Just assholes honestly...I wrote my order on the back of the paper they gave you and they didn't make my plate because it was written on the wrong side. They make their customers feel like idiots for just making a mistake. Their system is confusing to begin with, so if you've never been there, be prepared to be treated like shit.
