I just left this gem of a diner and I have to say it is the best breakfast I have ever had in a restaurant. Incredible watching all of the employees working together. The cook was so impressive, everything is freshly made right I front of you. The amount of people lined up and willing to wait to eat here was also impressi e! Thank you for an outstanding meal. We will be back!

Just a counter so expect to wait with your neighbors in this classic diner. They keep your coffee topped off.

Ideal definitely deserves great reviews from the several experiences I've had there. They do breakfast right. The corned beef hash is definitely my favorite; big pieces of their tasty corned beef (not the stuff from a can).Great food. They treat their customers well and the prices are good too.On my most recent visit they voluntarily comped my meal just because they made a small mistake with my order and I had to wait just a couple minutes longer. That's definitely over and above. But that's obviously just how they treat their customers.

Don't let the size of this diner deter you from coming in. Established in 1942 and still putting out great food. Great prices also. Service was legit also. I ordered the chorizo eggs Benedict, which was delicious. If you have a chance, stop in. I will be back for lunch sonetime.

I went here on a Sunday at about 11 and waited 30-ish minutes for two people. I'd give this place 6/5 if I could. Food was delicious and affordable, and was DEFINITELY worth the wait. Staff was extremely friendly. Ended up with a $30 bill for two omlettes, hash browns, coffees, and French toast.

Been going to Ideal Diner for years, on average maybe 4x/year. Never disappoints, food is the same quality now as back when, as servos has always been that busy diner charm. So glad they survived Covid. Will miss this place (Im moving out of state)

The other day, my brother and I basked into a hidden gem on Central Ave, North Minneapolis. We have never visited a diner in our lives. Ideal Diner was very busy, however, straight away, we were greeted with pleasantries. The folks were so kind and helpful to us throughout our dining experience. The meal was exceptional and reasonably priced! Corn-beef hash, two eggs and toast, fried walleye that melts in our mouth. Woo, that Reuben! To top it off, cups of coffee that reminded us of our home land Guyana, South America. This is one diner we will be visiting more often!

The Wikipedia entry for "diner" should just redirect to an entry for Ideal Diner: this is the textbook definition. Fourteen stools, one counter, one small grill, a short order cook, and a counter person. The food is classic diner fare done simply and well: eggs, hash browns, toast, sausage gravy, omelettes, and the like. Our food was hot, delicious, and plentiful.Service is swift and no-nonsense, you get your fork and knife laid in front of you after the counter gets a quick wipe, ketchup and hot sauce if you want it, and plenty of grape jelly packets. Be prepared for a wait on the weekends, but it's definitely worth it! Next time I go I'm making sure I ask for sausage gravy on top of my omelette...

Really great country fried steak. Free hot sauce. Everything was delicious and at a price point where I felt I received value. Thanks!
