Food is delicious, the sauces make it even better. If you’re a fan a spicy sauce, their orange/red sauce will hit the spot. Love thier menu variety, and they always have friendly staff. Great prices for good quality food and large portions!

We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Fast, friendly service, family frendly (think board games available to play while you wait, festive music) and plenty of seating!

The food is honestly not as good as I have eaten it in different Mexican places and I think even the service of Tacos El Primo surpasses Tacos El Patron.

Stopped by in the morning ten days ago and ordered huevos rancheros (sunny side up eggs with green salsa on top, and a toasted corn tortilla underneath, side of refried beans and white rice).I got what I ordered but it looked like it had been sitting in their refrigerator for days, small amount of dried up salsa and the eggs were extra dry and burnt on the edges, beans were very dry, and corn tortilla was dry and stale.Nonetheless, I think I should’ve went elsewhere as I noticed a small black mouse running around the hallway.I do not recommend this place.

IRan in here to escape -zero temps & looking for hot & gluten-free in the 7 minutes before the 21 bus out front was due. Ordered pozole that I was thinking was a lil' spendy at $13. Left with a rather large package. At home, found it contained 2 AMAZING tacos with all the sides/ fixings. THOSE TACOS! , I will be back for, and won't so much care about missing busses. The pozole was less wow (wait.. were the fixings for the pozole? Coulda made the difference..). It did come with an oily sauce I probably needed but feared (because the oily chili sauce at Thai places is way too hot for me).Dietary restrictions: 2 chicken & pork pozole were fast take-out options without wheat (GF). Tamales were going to take a little longer than I wanted to wait (the visit prior to this one).

The Birrias are not a thing no flavor. Small. Overpriced for 3. I’ll be choosing a different spot next time I’m in a crave.

Food truck review: recently stopped by here on my lunch break to meet up with a friend and we both loved our tacos! She dubbed her chicken tinga tacos the best she's had since moving here, and the birria I had was delicious as well. Food came out fresh and hot! Would definitely stop by this food truck again.

Explosive flavors! This is one of the only taquerias in the area that will make my custom order correctly. Respect them for understanding and can’t wait to come back.

Birria Consome (beef tacos) tasted alright but there was hardly anything to them. Very chintzy. The elote was shriveled up and sad looking like they should have thrown the old corn out awhile ago.The Horchata tasted watered down. Like a lot.If I ordered a burrito I'm sure it would have been 99% rice.

Disappointed overall. The service was great and on time. The nachos were too salty and covered with a cheese sauce product which was a glorified bechamel cheese sauce. I make this at home at times to cover veggies but would never put the sause on nachos. This is a cheese state for goodness sake.Had the chilli relleno, but they insisted a protein. Maybe a Midwest thing, but living in IL for 10 years, I've never seen that.

The food was great, but there's rarely anyone at the counter to take your order. Took quite some time to get my food, and another guy came in to pick up his food that he pre ordered and they didn't even start it yet, but told him it would be a few minutes still.

I was born in california but raised in mexico so i know that mexican food the more up north you travel the less authentic it taste so my taste buds are very picky first time trying it i asked for 6 tacos 1 of each just to get the flavor of their cooking i was honestly disappointed i have to say couldn’t finish them, salsas were also very basic no explosive of the spices tasted like canned salsa might give it another shot to try the something difrent but was not a fan everyone was attentive and very clean restaurant id say but not the flavor for me

This place is absolute flames. As you probably know, parts of Minnesota can flavor deserts. I live outside of MPLS and when I come across anything that isn’t cheese curds, the flavors tend to be watered down and made milder to appeal to those who have never left the Midwest. Then I found Taqueria el Patron. I was craving some birria from back home which is the Central Valley of California, and to be honest, I was scared to be disappointed again from trying another Mexican restaurant in this state. But alas, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor! I got the quesabirria and it SLAMS, the salsas could have been hotter, but they tasted amazing regardless. I also got an horchata and that was on point. I love this place so much, it’s my new favorite birria spot away from home!
