I really wanted to like this place as I live very close. Maybe the bar gets lively toward happy hour or maybe they have some specials. But I went for lunch and the salad was so average and the walleye was bland, unseasoned and plopped on a soggy bun with a piece of lettuce, 3 flimsy pickles and a whitish/pinkish tomato. Our waitress was uninterested in us, didn’t fill waters until we asked and didn’t even check in on us. It wasn’t that busy. Now I know why. Appreciate the effort, but I sadly won’t be back and can’t in good faith recommend it to friends. At least now I know.

I visited Tavern23 for the first time recently. I ordered Lou's double stack burger. I sat at the bar, the food was very good and the service was friendly.

My bartender was attentive and did a wonderful job. I ordered a flat bread pizza (gluten free) and it was quite good. I believe they use the Udis crust, not cauliflower crust. Keep up the good work!

Above average food selection for a tavern. Servers are willing to answer food allergy questions and find answers. We choose this place for a small group, because of the diversity of the menu.Dietary restrictions: I'm gluten free, and if it's not listed, the server will find out.

Food was low quality. The server knocked over a drink when serving food, spilled on one of us. The server returned with a bunch of napkins and just set them on the table and walked away. We told our main server who apologized and brought another drink. We got our bill and nothing was comped. We would have accepted a drink comp. Did speak to the mgr, who was not aware of what happened and took care of us.

This place was busy on a Wednesday night, but that did not compromise the experience. I ordered a lemon drop martini, not on the menu, and it was ok. Certainly not the $16 I paid for it. I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich, delicious. My friend ordered the hickory burger and she said it was really good, it really hit the spot. All in all, I would go back but would skip the lemon drop martini.
