I had heard good things and I love burger joints. Hot Chip did not disappoint! A little more then I’d like to spend for lunch but worth the extra few dollars. Creative and hip atmosphere paired with very friendly and courteous staff. So with those two things paired with excellent food you have a winner!! Keep up the good work Hot Chip Burger Bar. I’ll definitely be back! Yummy!

I was initially really excited when I found this restaurant on Happy Cow and realised it was so close to where we were staying as it's typically hard for me to find quality options for my dietary needs, a trek, or both. Overall I wasn't a fan. $14 for the burger, not including the additional $3.25 side of fries that came with like 10 fries total. My burger was supposed to come with 2 beef patties so when I subbed the veggie patty I assumed I would have 2 veggie patties, but only had one. Overall the burger was incredibly soggy. I was really excited about the mushroom aspect of this burger and ended up very disappointed. I think the veggie patty and porcini mushroom aioli are why this burger was as soggy as it was. The patty literally was falling apart and the aioli was thin and watery. I couldn't even finish the burger and ended up throwing most of it away after a couple of bites. My boyfriend ordered cheese curds as a starter and those were easily the best part of the meal (and the two pickle slices that came with each burger). I'm also not sure if this restaurant was supposed to have service or not, but there really was none. The menu is via QR, you get your own drinks, clean up your tray, food and drinks, and don't even see a server when you pay. We only saw our "server" when our food was dropped off. No one checked on us to see how the food was once we received it or if we needed anything else. All in all, not impressed. I'm not sure if we just came in on a bad day or what, because it looks like other people had a better experience. But I don't think I would recommend Hot Chip Burger Bar.

We chose the burger bar as a recommendation from my lab tech at Mayo Clinic and the food was great. The service however was confusing to say the least. Upon entering we were greeted by super friendly staff and advised we could sit at the bar for service, order from the kiosk ahead or scan the QR code on our table to order. Had my mother been without me, as someone who is not tech savvy she would have never been able to figure it out. We were then told we could grab a cup fill out own ice and drinks up and find a seat. We chose to sit outside which was a great location and atmosphere. We ordered our food online by QR code and it was delivered shortly after. If you were drinking soda, tea or water you had to go back inside and I’m assuming refill your own drink (hopefully people don’t reuse their same glass in the ice bucket) but I had a drink other than those above and I guess I could have went back online to purchase another but was not sure so I sipped my water slowly upon finishing my drink. When it was time to pay the bill we had to go back online and the best part….they conspicuously added a tip for our server. What server? I saw a waiter one time that delivered my food. No one asked how things were or if we needed anything and we were to get our own refills. Our napkins and silverware were already on the table in a community bucket so who was I tipping and for what?

Amazingly good food! We had the daily lunch special for $10.99 and it was awesome and my son had the kids cheeseburger and he loved it. Thanks Hot Chip!

They're delicious...the burgers are to die for, i typically don't smash burgers normally but these burgers are the bomb! Juiciest ever, and double cheese please! And their fries are ok but the Onion rings are amazing! And their milkshake adult or normal milkshake YUMMMMMY The wings of good as well too!

The atmosphere is amazing and the food was delicious. I’m not typically a “burger person” but I would be if they all tasted like Hot Chips burgers. So good. I had “the original” with a side of broccoli (right?!) the broccoli was amazing too. Loved it. Well done Hot Chips ??????

Chefs burger. Super tasty. One of the best burgers I've ever had. And I've had a lot. A definite stop next time I'm traveling through.

I are lunch with coworkers here today. Love the counter service model where you order and pay at the kiosk and they bring your food to your table. It’s so much easier to do that with a group of nine people than to have a server take all those orders! The server helped us get a couple of tables outside and it was just a beautiful day to eat on the patio. The food was really good and I really appreciate all the substitutions built into the ordering process. I subbed in a vegan patty on a standard burger and I added a broccoli side dish instead of having to get fries. I’ll definitely be back to try the vegan milkshakes and maybe even a boozy vegan milkshake.

As a vegetarian with a severe milk allergy, I have the hardest time finding restaurants with options for me when I visit my parents in Rochester. This most recent trip home was a last minute endeavor when we learned my brother would be returning from the US withdrawal in Afghanistan in a matter of days. I brought a few bags of groceries to my parents to ensure I'd have food that's safe for me to eat. Then they suggested Hot Chip. Not only did they have a number of options for me to choose from, our waitress was diligent in making sure each ingredient didn't contain any milk products. My food was delicious and I won't lie, I wish I could bring this place with me to St. Louis (MO) !

This is the best burger I've had in a long time, if not forever. Wow. I ordered the Classic #1 with a side of fries (they come seasoned). It comes with cheese, pickles, onions and WOW. This burger was so hecking good. I ate the whole thing even though I was super full. I also got a boozy shake (the one with vanilla and amaretto). It was very very good and would absolutely get it again. But that burger... I'm going to be thinking about that burger for a long time.

Fantastic outdoor seating! We've come to Hot Chip a decent amount since they opened. They've always done right by us, take-out orders during the pandemic were timely and fresh. Prior to the pandemic, great cocktails and a fun divey atmosphere. Dining out now that the weather is nice showed us their outdoor seating area. It's almost like a hybrid of Forager Brewery and Hefe Rojo's outdoor seating - lots of greenspace, ample space between tables, fun and vibrant tables and decor. The staff are always so friendly and fantastic to work with. The food is always good. I'm always hoping for a Juicy Lucy in Rochester, but since Hot Chip is more of a "smashed" burger style, I doubt it will happen here -- doesn't matter. The fries: bangin Onion rings: pretty darn good Wings: They're ok, I'd take or leave 'em Nachos: also great Pickled Pepper Slaw: My partner adores it and gets it over the fries. My usual order is The Dude. I've yet to order anything I don't like, though. Many great options available. I'm glad this place has been surviving and now that I know how great the outdoor seating is, I'm liable to come even more often.

This place has really gone down hill. Customers can order at the front (like McDonald's but much less efficient) or scan the code and order at your table. The ordering system was a bit funky and we were logged out a couple of times and it was difficult to get back into the system. There is a laminated menu, but it doesn't have pricing and we were only allowed one physical menu for 6 of us. The drinks are self serve. (Also like McDonalds) They were not busy, and there were plenty of staff floating around. Our food arrived very slowly and the staff truly seemed not to care about the customer. Hot Chip is now like a sit down fast food place but with staff not up to par with that of McDonald's, Culvers or Five Guys and burger that are 3 times more expensive. (Five Guys fries are better than Hot Chip) The burgers are good, but with service like it is, it is just not worth it.

Oh. My. Gawd. Literally the best burger I've had. So tasty I'd drive over an hour to get one. Wish we had one closer, but it's a treat I have to wait for.

First time eating here. Stopped there as it was on our way to the airport. We sat at the bar and the bartender was there immediately. Didn't have to ask for menus, he gave them before we asked. Since we were driving we had sodas, and they had Spring Grove root beer which is great! We had cheese curds for a starter. A bit more expensive than most places, but you get more too, fried to perfection and served with ranch dressing. I had the BBWT burger. They cook all their burgers medium well, which is not what I would ever order. That said, the burger patties (there are 2) have a great sear giving a nice crunch. Add in the bacon jam's sweetness and this is one heck of a treat! The tomato slices add some acidity to balance the sweetness of the jam, but unfortunately they almost overpowered it. Sad! My girlfriend had the Mr. Lebowski. I didn't try it, but she said it was awesome. She's said texturally you couldn't tell it from a real burger, which I totally believe as I'm a fan of mushroom "burgers". The bonus for us was we were super pressed for time. We were in the door, sitting and served in15 minutes, and back on the road in 45. Today that was huge. We'll definitely be back, and we'll post some pix next time!
