Super chill and definitely not a chain coffee house. Nothing against those but BD was refreshing!! I enjoyed a bailey's coffee and the guys enjoyed a black coffee. Our pizza of prosciutto arugula and pear was delsih!!! Also loved the perfect crust. Not too thin or thick! Perfect way to start our late afternoon in st paul and then off the chriskindle market

Selected the Black Dog as the brunch venue following my daughter's wedding in Nov 2021. I couldn't have chosen a better place. The food was excellent, bloody mary's and mimosas tasty and the service was first class. Working with Andy, Stacy and Sara couldn't have been easier - responsive and helpful. The restaurant had a dedicated space that easily accommodated 40+ people at a time. Great way to end the wedding weekend.

Went for Saturday night jazz, 8-11pm every Saturday! Incredible. Staff was super nice. Only had some tres leche cake and that was super good. Nice comfortable space for a low key Saturday.

Great cold press! Definitely has a coffee shop feel during the day time

The jazz experience is amazing here and I will continue to go for it, but the service was really bad both times I've ordered food here. I would absolutely recommend going here for the music, but eat somewhere else beforehand. We asked for water three times before we got any, never got silverware, and a server came to us one time in the two hours we were there, and that was to take our order. When we asked for napkins, I had to get up to walk to the server stand, got a total of three paper napkins, and noticed on our way out everyone else had cloth, a small detail, but annoying. Even with me standing up and waving my arm to get the servers attention, they wouldn't come. When we asked someone walking by to call the server over TWICE so we could order more than the appetizer, no one came. Note, the jazz is separate from the restaurant business, which is why I will be returning for it, otherwise, I wouldn't.

Good service for a Sunday afternoon and nice location with a patio. I will say, however, that the food was very sub-par for what you pay for. It was quite bland with lack of spices/herbs.

Fun and tasty food. Nice location

We waited for our food for about 1.5 hours when it was not too busy. When we finally got our food, it was absolutely terrible. I got the tofu scramble which was just lukewarm, barely cooked plain tofu (not marinated like the menu says) and barely cooked vegetables on top of bland breakfast potatoes. There was absolutely no salt or other spice in that dish. Over the course of our visit, we asked our server for a knife to stir up my latte which was not mixed at all (I ended up having to use the end of my sunglasses to make it drinkable), salt & pepper, and hot sauce, but we got none of it. They did take my latte off of the bill because of the wait, but it still was not worth it.

Super nice atmosphere and really great service. Their iced coffees are amazing.
This is a gem of Lowertown in St Paul. If you love art and intimate live music, an attached gallery and a stage the perfect size for a jazz band will definitely make you happy. The menu is interesting and the drink selection is good. Service and ambiance are stellar. This is one of my favorite bars in the Twin Cities.

We booked the private room at Black Dog Cafe for Sunday brunch after our wedding and it was the best experience. Our lead person day-of was Lisie and she was amazing - she was so personable, attentive and provided incredible service. The food was great and the space was the perfect size for our group. I highly recommend them for your next brunch event!

We had bad service, I mean really bad service almost comically bad. We had a server who was MIA for most of our visit. We had to go to the bar to get out own drinks because she was nowhere to be found. On the flip side the food was excellent.
