I drove by this hidden gem weeks ago and finally was able to stop in for lunch today. I gotta say that this is some of the best tasting food I have experienced in Minnesota since returning home. I tried the Picadillo meal which was perfectly seasoned and not over salted like some places do. The rice was a perfect consistency and a freshy made salsa added a little kick to the meal. The customer service was top notch and I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items. A+++

It's excellent. We have tried other Cuban restaurants in the twin cities (Victors and Guava's), but El Cubano stands out. The flavor of the food was the main highlight. We will come back for more.I only wish it were open more days of the week. I have been wanting to go Monday through Wednesday for the past month only to have to remind myself that they are not open.

So happy I finally tried this place, after hearing they had some of the best, most authentic food in St Paul. I loved it! Can't wait to go back and try more things. The service was also very attentive and friendly.

El Cubano blows me away every time. I’ve only been here three times and tried two dishes, but every meal was out of this world delicious. The ropa vieja is fantastic, I had that twice, but the juiciness, rich flavor, and fall-apart tenderness of the slow roasted pork in their el guajiro was on another level. Everything tastes fresh, the food always comes out piping hot, and it never took too long for my plate to get to my table, even when the restaurant was fairly busy.I don’t know what the staff secret is, but everyone in this establishment is on another level - and it’s not fake, either. The young woman taking my order was genuinely friendly and helpful. The chef and any help they may have are phenomenal at what they do. Even the wait staff, who physically did little more than bring me my food, check on me once, and take my dishes away, both radiated a sincere kindness and desire to put me at ease. I really felt at home here.Whether eating in order dining out, I’d rank El Cubano among my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. Bravo!

I’d recently complained to friends how everything’s tasting the same around the metro ranging from local shops to chains and even fine dining where atmosphere over food is priority leaving menus generically commercialized in taste. El Cubano changed the monotony with great flavors and damn! those fries (Like 1/2 fry and 1/2 crepe) are good.2 sandwiches and a nice espresso went a long way towards convincing me I’ll go out of the way to return for more. Great stuff.

Returning customer. Fresh food, Superb family served service, and Caribbean atmosphere should/could undoubtedly transcend the restaurant into a dancing Salsa Club.

Amazing, amazing and again amazing!!! From the service to the food, everything was just excellent! We had the fish, mixed rice, white rice with black bean sauce, tostone, sweet plantain and our rake came with salad. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re at home if you’re from the Caribbean. Will definitely come back to visit.

The absolute best family restaurant in the Twin Cities. The food is amazing, we love the Ropa Vieja and the Cuban Sandwich. The owners are such lovely people and they are very attentive to our kids needs. Oh and did I mention the espresso!? My jaw dropped.
